Any opinions on grashorn stag grips? They seem to have some of the higher prices around and wondering if the quality is worth the price? And what makes one pair of stags better then another?

Patrick and Rose are wonderful to deal with. I have dealt with them for years. You can tell them how much or how little bark that you would like, and typically he will have several made to choose from. On Ruger grips, I like to send him the frame for a more personal fit.
Deal w confidence.

Tim

I have regrets having purchased Grashorn stocks

I regret I don’t have them on all my other S&W revolvers and Colt LW Commander.

Patrick "Executioner" Grashorn makes high quality stocks; I have four sets. He customed-tailored this set, with lots of bark, for my transitional (1946-1949) N frame. I sent the frame to him to ensure proper fit. Good guy, highly recommended.

Ken Driskill "bigmtnman" is another quality maker, his 'antiqued' stags are shown here on a pre-war .44HE 2nd Model.

Both makers are easy to work with and Grashorn will tailor a set to your desire. There are subtle differences, one that comes to mind is my Grashorn stocks are slightly beveled at the bottom of the grip frame while Driskill's are flat and flush similar to factory magna stocks.

I have this set of Grasshorn's shown and another set I just purchased from a Forum member not yet mounted.

With the Grasshorn Grips the quality is superb and you can order to suit your wants to include the S&W medallions of choice.

I also have a few sets of Big Mountain Man grips that I also love the quality of. Ken sells his as posted so what he post is what you are able to get. At least in my experience.

Prices are comparable when comparing styles to one another and both are easy to work with.

Got a half dozen sets of Grashorn Grips.
My RM came without its original grips...Patrick made me a nice set of no bark grips for the pre-war N-frame.

Several other sets of N and K/L frame made to order.
Quality is worth the price...................

BigMtman offers nice grips for sale here..... but I don't think he takes orders...what he makes is what you get .... if you get there first! :)

I love mine. Cannot say enough good things about his work. So I will leave you with this....

This has been my experience too. Ken told me, in a PM, that he does not make grips to order. I have bought two sets of N frame grips from him. Have also purchased from Patrick Grashorn. Both are high quality. Ken seems to charge more for what he calls "high end" grips...denser heavier material. I have a set of these, on a Model 28, and you can tell the difference.

Really nice people and the prices are better than you're thinking if you look around. I just bought two sets of K's for project guns.

I have two sets from Pat; one on a 1960s model 10, and the other on a 1917 .45. Both were promptly shipped and fit well. I believe that he will fit the stocks to your specific pistol if you want, but the “generic fit” on both of mine was completely satisfactory.

Grasshorn

I have one set that I bought used here on the forum. Beautiful on my 19. I also have a set of Ken’s grips on my 36. You can’t go wrong with either. Grip adapters are BK.
