Great article about Lee Marvin's "Point Blank" 4" Model 29.

I have most of Wilbur Smith's books. 'Shout at the Devil' is a really good read & Marvin was perfect as Smith's character 'Flynn O'Flynn'. Reading the book I can't imagine he even wrote that character without having Lee Marvin in mind...it's uncanny. "Dark of the Sun' was the one w Rod Taylor.

That was very interesting. Lee evidently thought you would enjoy/treasure the gun more than anyone else could. It was his and he wanted you to have in a way part of him that would live on.

You can see this at Arlington National Cemetary:

You guys know I like Marvin...see my avatar!! (In which he is wielding an S&W!).

Best Regards, Les

And it's the one it's being talked about.:D That Avatar of yours is from "Point Blank":D

Death Hunt is another great movie Lee Marvin was in. I need to watch it again.
A great movie with cool guns from my favorite period, old west overlapping "modern" times. One of my favorites, but only about 2% true to the real story. It was set in the Northern Territories. That's about it. The real hunt for "Albert Johnson" is covered in a real good book called "The Mad Trapper Of Rat River". Johnson was a bad guy, but of almost super human endurance.
Here's my 4 incher with Culinas. It came with a tuned action and rear sight rounded off. Not by the young LEO I bought it from but someone previous.

Great story Wyatt, and thanks for sharing it with us.
Lee Marvin was one of my favorites, just caught part of "Paint Your Wagon" the other night and even though it's not one of my favorites, it does have Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood in it.

I really enjoy that movie, primarily because it is so out of character for those two! That, and Eastwoods complete inability to sing.....

Good call, Kurusu!!!

Here's the photo that my avatar came from...as you point out, a publicity shot for "Point Blank", which I may or may not have been aware of when I picked it. Back then I was finishing up watching my "M Squad" DVDs, and searched for a good black and white of Marvin for my avatar.

What do you guys think...is he holding the gun that the OP's thread tells the story of?? A 4" Model 29?

I just watched “The Killers” on You Tube and Lee Marvin was really mean to Angie Dickinson. That’s three movies they were together. He carried what is probably an 8 3/8s” Model 27 with a suppressor.
