Guide Rod Notch question

The guide rod notch on the barrel of my 5906 is off center. The attached pic (sorry its poor quality) probably makes it look better than it is since the barrel is sitting at a slight angle.

Beyond the cosmetics, can this cause a problem?

I ask because the gun seems to have horrible accuracy and I'm just theorizing that this is the root of the problem. Although I could also take the view that the notch is an assembly aid only, and doesn't come into play when firing.

The guide rod is held into the frame after assembly, the notch is just to help put it back together. More likely you'll need to try different brands and weights of bullets to find the one your gun likes the best.
