Gun laws force another move!!!

I don't know what kind of TV advertising you get where you live but New York State has been running frequent ads for months here in Arizona about all the benefits of relocating a business there.
I suspect but don't know for sure that this may be the result of their infamous "Safe Act".
Jim

They been running the same ads in Texas, which is a hoot. Few real Texans would want to relocate themselves, or their business to NY. I just laugh when I see them.

Aloha,

I'm sure Beretta isn't done shafting Maryland yet.

Remember they are going on 16 generations of Family ownership.

Over 500 years in business in Italy and it's crazy politics.

I think they know How to Play That Game and WIN.

When Beretta finally pulls All their marbles out that game,

I'm sure Maryland's Governor will know they Lost big time.

The blue states don't care. For them it's a win for their favorite cause, gun control. They will sucker some other non firearm related industry in to take it's place. And yes if any industry that moves but doesn't move completely then they are still helping the state.

Beretta aint the only one leaving this communist democrat state. 19% of the millionaires in the state of Maryland packed up an went elsewhere in the last few years...and I don't know for certain but I am fairly confident that they took their money with them. The problem is that we need a electoral college type system for electing the governor. Right now, if every normal person in this ridiculous state voted four times we still couldn't out vote the jobless people in Baltimore and Howard counties. Two counties decide the fate of this state because of population density.
All you have to do is carry those two counties and you are our next governor. That is also why so many times whoever was mayor of Baltimore is our next governor. I cant wait to get out of here...if this economy would only go up a little...but that's another discussion involving yet another communist democrat.

I already saw this on the Beretta board, but is anyone else amused that Beretta's manager in the USA is named Jeff Cooper?

That OTHER Jeff Cooper, the late gun writer, was not fond of the M-9 replacing his beloved Colt .45 auto.

I also thought that was interesting.
There is a Ruger plant in Prescott, Arizona.
Jeff Cooper lived a few miles North of there.

My understanding is that Tennessee is also known for cheap labor.
So is Florida. I have a friend in NJ who owns a manufacturing company. Even the guy on the loading dock makes $25/hr. Most of the employees live in rentals because a 2/2 house is half a million $$$. Around here $15/hr is what most folks get. Everybody I know owns a house of some sort. My wife and I don't make a whole lot of money but I just paid off this 4/3, 3 car garage built in 2005. Wasn't so hard considering I paid $160K for a property that would be near $1 mil in my old neighborhood (about 10 miles west of NYC in the heart of "Union" country). Cheap labor is a bad when your standard of living is lower, not wages. Joe

I too suspect that, in a year or two, the rest of the company's functions will move to Tennessee....

In comparison, for sure. Maryland is ranked at the top in household income. It's also ranked at the top for cost of living.

If the only thing Beretta was looking to do was escape the horrid anti-gun culture in Maryland, Pennsylvania is right next door.

I always thought it was a strange choice that Beretta went to Maryland in the first place. It was most likely a politically leveraged decision.
US law required them to build a US plant. They most likely got pressure from Congress, the White House or the pentagon which influenced the Maryland choice.
Now as we move on down the road, that pressure is gone. The disadvantages of the Maryland location are obvious, so it's time for Berreta to move on.

Earlier I would have thought that Virginia might have been a good choice, with the option of retaining most of their existing workforce, but I guess the "political situation" isn't stable enough any more. It might still be an option for Beretta to move their headquarters there, just to avoid paying another penny to the State of "Fatti maschil, Parole femine". :D

Frankly, they need to change that State motto for SO MANY reasons.
