Wow… firearm cleaners and lubricants are as personal as toilet paper.
During the past 4 years I've watch 100s of YouTube videos on firearm cleaning and lubrication, I disagree with about 50% of the methods used. Several are very misleading and wrong according to the firearm manufacturer.
I don't recall any owner's manual recommending "grease". Over my past 47 years of owning firearms, I've tried many different cleaners and lubricants.
Over the past 4 years I've tried a dozen different popular products. The Youtuber Project Farm did an excellent comparison of cleaners and lubricants. I've been using Hoppe's for cleaning and CLENZOIL for lubrication.
I do not use anything that sprays, it makes a mess, and I already breathe enough lead and range fumes. I prefer a small 1 oz. bottle with a needle applicator for lubrication and a cotton swap on wooden stick for cleaning with Hoppe's, and old T-shirts cut up into small and medium pieces. Because I clean my firearms after every use, I rarely use any brass or plastic brushes or snakes. I always wear nitrile gloves when cleaning my firearms.
