I stopped in the Sacramento gun show today. There was lots of rifle powder around, very little pistol powder. Plenty of primers at about $23 per thousand, I bought several thousand. There was also reasonable availability of bullets, cases and both new and reloaded ammo. 22 lr was easily available but the prices are still ridiculous.

primers at 23 per K is a deal!

Wow, I have to agree! Cheapest I can get are $30 + 7% sales tax ($32.10 total). Just got a deal on Remington SP from MidwayUSA, but with shipping/Haz Mat was still $32.06/K.

The LGS in the area range from $35-$45/K + tax. So I think you got a heck of a deal @ $23.00/K

Recently, using a $45 off coupon, I bought 15K of CCI SPP, to my door for $28.60 per K. This is the cheapest I have bought primers since I started shooting again about 5 years ago.
$23 is a real good price if they are the primers you like.

I have a lot of pistol powder to sell, but no hazmat.
People in this neck of the woods refuse to pay 30.00 lb, even though that is my cost.
I am gonna try to sell it at an upcoming gunshow, but I fear, I will be coming back home with it. Which is fine, but I would rather someone else be shooting, instead of complaining.

Las Cruces, NM..end of oct
If you have enough friends that need powder, it may be worth your trip.
Between all of us we have about 250lbs for sale.
Bullseye, power pistol, 800x, BE86 Unique, Autocomp, CFE, and some others.
I have a friend of mine that runs a FFl for side business, and I was buying quite a bit for him to be able to sell to customers, and I needed some too. but none of them want to pay.
They figure they will wait for it to go on sale :)
Even though no local shop has had any of these for over a year..Go figure

I'll bet that some of those same fools will buy 2 lbs. of Unique from an outfit like Sportsman's for 19.99 per lbs and think they got a "bargain". Add in the HAZMAT charges and the shipping charges and that "bargain" works out to be a 75 dollar purchase.

Personally I've done the math and anytime I see a powder on my "need" list for 30 dollars or less per pound I am all over it. Because of this I am finally at the point where the only powder remaining on my "need" list is Accurate #9 and that is only that is the case due to the purchase of a new to me 1892 Winchester in 357 Magnum. Darned thing is so much fun to shoot I'm going thru 357 Magnum loads like Pez candies. Just ordered 750 Berry's 158 grain TCFP Hard cast so I won't miss out on another Cowboy Rifle Silhouette match.

This 100%^^^^^^^^

As a side chuckle
I posted on craigslist about having powder to sell. I was asking the same price 30.00lb. The guy wanted titegroup, and I answered that I had 24lbs of it.

He offered to buy 10lbs, and he would pay me 150.00 cash!!!

Man, it was tempting, and shortly after, I cancelled the craigslist ad.. Just not worth it.

I've been scoring some good powders at Cabela's in Thornton, Co. lately. I drive by there numerous times a week, so it's easy for me to just stop in. Got a couple of lbs of WSF for my light-recoiling 147gr 9mm loads, and picked up some 748 for a buddy, and a couple of others. No Titegroup yet, but still looking. OH, yeah! Scored some Varget!!! No kidding.

was at a local show 2 weekends ago. Actually found some Retumbo. Bought one and traded a lb of Clays for another. Then bought 80 lb of mostly pistol/shotgun powders for 150 bucks. Mostly older powders but 11 lb of Unique. Got an old 15 lb keg of Red Dot. 5 lb of 800X. Sold some and still came home with 40 lb and a heck of a profit. I had to keep 5 lb of Unique. I use a lot of it in 20 and 28 ga shotshells. When I got the powders the guy gave me 30 OLD empty powder cans. Threw in a sealed can of Hi Vel #2

The Nation's Gun Show in Chantilly, VA (near DC) is on this weekend. There is a fair amount of rifle powder, but I don't see any of the "Dots" nor any Bullseye, Unique, HP38 or 231. Primers are still running at $32 +. :(

Hit the big gun show in Novi, Michigan today. It's billed as a 600 table show and I would estimate that about 80% of the available tables were in use.

As typical some of that space was taken up by dealers selling edged implements that may have looked good in a Mad Max movie but have no practical use beyond that. Frankly I don't understand the appeal or how these dealers can stay in business but I guess someone buy's this stuff because they seem to be at every show I've attended.

Also in attendance were those dealers specializing in Kosmoline Specials from just about every Armory on the planet, Mosin's, Caracal's, Mauser's, and just about any other ex military Bolt action or AK variant you could dream of. Some at prices I would consider reasonable but one dealer was asking 269.00 for Mosin's that looked like they had been stored under a pile of truck or tank parts in some Armory the stocks were so beat up.

Then there were the major Michigan dealers who specialize in the gun shows for probably 80% of their sales and these guys know what sells and how to turn a dollar without squeezing it 3 times. So, there were relatively good bargains on some rather nice new firearms. What keeps tempting me is a Ruger New Vaquero in 357 Magnum but I've so far managed to fight that temptation. What I was hoping to stumble on is a Marlin 1894 CP in 357 Magnum but that didn't happen at this show. So, I'll just keep on looking and some day may find one.

On the Reloading component front lots and lots of semi auto, 308, and 223 components on hand including once fired brass. However, the only once fired revolver brass on hand was for 38 special, so those looking for any other revolver caliber best keep on waiting for Starline to run some of what they need. Primers and bullets were also on hand in abundance as long as it's not a revolver caliber with a bore larger or smaller than .357. As for powders, lots of rifle powders on hand but the only handgun powders on hand were Magnum powders. Go figure, not a thing as far as cases or bullets for 357 or 44 Magnum but lots of Lil Gun, Accurate #9, Win 296, H110, 4227, and 5744. I picked up 1 lbs. of Lil Gun for a Co-Worker for his 45 Raptor loads, 2 lbs. of #9 for myself, and 1 lbs. of Longshot for my 40 caliber screamers.

Went to the gun show in Tiffin OH today. Not much to see. There were enough of the junk knives there to make a scrap dealer weep for joy.

Not much in the way of reloading supplies. Several signs out looking to buy or trade for reloading items. Not too many of the tables looked like they were full time dealers.

Sounds like the ones they have here. I honestly don't know how some of those knife guys can afford to have what's basically a permanent table at every show. Ditto for the holster folks.

I guess some of those guys who sell nothing but made in china stamped from beer can knives must make some money because you see them everywhere. Kind of like dog turds.

I get it when the young kids want one. What the heck, it's a buck and too dull to really cut anything. But what adult is going to waste their money? Tables were $20. Don't see how they could have even covered their cost.

One of my friends sells these up at Dallas and nearly always sells out. I just shake my head.
