At the show this morning I spotted a J frame with ugly plastic grips. Upon further inspection the original numbered grips were in a separate box. I'm not sure they were ever on gun. They are perfect and the Jay Scott grips that were on it are period correct. Came with box tools and all paperwork. It was sold to original owner locally in 1974. There is the faintest turn line that only shows in the right light. There was an equally nice 37 Airweight with no box or paper work. I was gonna try and work a deal for both. But while looking at the 36 a lady walked up and said I'll take the Airweight. Apparently she looked at it earlier. I bought the gun for $400 out the door. I'm pretty excited about that price and the condition of gun. I probably won't shoot it as I have another 36 that I carry often. So here's some not so great pics. I look forward to your comments/ opinions.

Wow, surprised the other exhibitors didn't grab it before you.
Good score for that little jewel!

What did they want for the airweight?

He had $399 on Airweight too. I was going to offer $750 out the door for both, knowing full well I'd pay his ask plus tax.
By the wayRalph , Lucas McCain is a nice touch !!!

Yep saw both those at the show but I'm heading into downsize territory soon
I handled them both and that boxed 36 was tempting
Glad a fellow forum member got it
Dealer had both marked at $395
Congrats

Thanks Grimjaws. Man , small world huh. I think we can agree there are not many deals at gun shows in our neck of the woods.

That same show last summer I got a smoking deal on a 19-3 with Jordan grips. Lots of bluing loss but tight as a drum and a sweet trigger for $350 out the door. The smudges are from oil and it cleaned up nice. Deals are there from time to time. (Pictured)
We should meet up for coffee one of these days. Or better yet at the range to try out that 36! 😁

Regarding this show
I also saw a worn pre 17 for $450 and a 14 with some funky thumb support target grips for $500. Both had some bluing loss at the usual spots but seemed solid.

What does the "recertified" comment on the spec sheet refer to? I don't recall seeing that as a subject of discussion on these forums.

It's a New York thing. Every 5 yrs we have to re-certify our pistol permit. Every handgun you own is listed on permit. Our permits are plastic cards the size of a debit card. I have to carry around 3 cards to list all my guns. I'm sure some people have even more. Thank god the state is here to take care of me. I'd be lost without them

Excellent deal there you did well fer schizzle. Easy to flip it for a few hundy, profit should you desire, but that would go into the do not sell stack! That would have cost a lot more in my AO!

Regards, Rick Gibbs

Yeah, me too. I've often wondered why many guns make it past set up, but I am glad they do; this clean 650 being the most recent.
