Guns you own, but haven't shot yet !!

I never thought I'd be in this boat, but yea. A Glock 26, yea I know, just haven't broke the seal yet, a T/C encore in .308, and a Ruger SP 101. Don't know why I haven't shot the Glock or the Ruger, but the T/C I'm considering selling because I've decided I don't want to get started in a new caliber, a little late considering I bought the rifle 2 years ago, but that's my excuse!

Take care...

They're only two guns in my safe that share that distinction, a 5" 5 screw M/27 and my new deer rifle a Ruger 77/44 .44 Magnum.

I know that this is unacceptable behavior, but I finally got a model 28-2 over two weeks ago, that I have not had a chance to go out and shoot yet! This not like me at all! I usually shoot any new arrival the day that I get my hands on it! Maybe it's because it is in such fine shape, and it cleaned up beautifully, that I have waited so long. I do believe that I will be burning up some ammo with it this coming Monday or Wednesday. It is the only gun that I have not fired residing in my safe at this time. Shameful!

Got a few

Let's see, I have aquired a few since my last trip to the range.

Handguns:
10-5 4"
60-18 5"
K-22 Masterpiece (1949)
38 DA 4th change (project gun)

Rifles:
US M1917 30-06
US M1 30 caliber carbine

Rest assured all will be rectified in the next week or so. With the exception of the 38 DA, I'm waiting for some parts and will need to re-finish it.

I've got an unfired second generation 45 Colt SAA. I soooooo want to shoot it! I'll probably buy one in used condition one of these days to shoot.

Ruger Redhawk .44 Mag 4". Had it several months. Can't get excited enough about it to even dig it back out of the safe.

Thirteen I haven't shot of which there are only three I don't intend to shoot. Two wallhangers ('92 Winchester 44/40 and an Ohio Half Stock percussion.) The third is an engraved Model 1 1/2 tip-up).
I will probably shoot the other ten at sometime. I have my shooters that go to the range with me and we both get a workout. Occasionally I will take a couple of the the others. I don't see much sense in shooting something I'm not going to use. I know they will shoot but they aren't going to outperform my regulars, so why waste the time and ammo?

I have a couple 22's that are still in the box A rem 597 NRA com. and a Winchester boy scout com.

I think thats it for my unfired.

A barnd new Para P-14 LDA Nite Tac.... Bought it a month ago and haven't put a single round thru it yet..
But it is on my list for next weekend....

A M28-2, almost invisible drag ring; owned two already so I know how they shoot. I just like it.

Uberti Walker--big paperweight, have a 3rd Model Dragoon that I do shoot.

Restored 4" Triple Lock. Bore rough, finish perfect; no point to shooting it.

USFA 5 1/2" nickel SAA (wife's gun); she thinks it's a work of art. Which it is.

Presumably they will all be shot by someone someday, so keeping them unfired for the moment is probably silly.

A 29-10 Anniversary model.
I bought it for myself on my 50th birthday. Still haven't shot it. Don't plan to. It keeps my other model 29 shooters company in the safe just fine.

This thread got me thinking. I believe in shooting just about every gun I have; however, there are several which I haven't fired, for various reasons. In handguns, I have a K-38 (approximately 1950-53) which I bought back in 1974 or 75 that, honestly, appears unfired, and I just haven't been able to bring myself to shoot it (if I make up a batch of .38 Spl wadcutters, though, look out); an M&P from the 1948-1951 era (acquired at the same time) which also appears unfired - not that much hesitance to shoot it (at least in the past, now, the apparently unfired aspect somewhat intrigues me), just not that much interest in shooting it (I prefer adjustable sight models); a 6" barrel Swiss Pattern Mauser Luger that was my late brother's - it had been fired a bit by him, still looks new, though, just letting memories rest a bit; my late Dad's Model 36, again, unfired, still looks new (Mom gave it to him for a birthday, Valentine's or Christmas present), was his "bedside" gun (he usually carried his Python), again, sentimental reasons; an 1851 Colt Navy (reissue from the early 70s), bought new, a work of art. I used to shoot my 1861 New Model Navy, sadly, it was stolen about 10 years ago. I also have a few rifles that I haven't fired - a Savage 340E in .222 Remington that I acquired along with the K-38 and M&P - no real reason, except for being a bit lazy, easier to take handguns to the "range," I guess (and easier to measure and set up targets at handgun distances). I guess I really should get out there and sight it in, it's only been 35 years since I bought it! Another is a Winchester M-70 Featherweight in .308, I've had this one about 5 or 6 years, again, too lazy to set up for longer range shooting at my "range." Might be another one or two, as well, same basic reason, or, in some cases, just don't have the ammo on hand, etc. Also, I can't seem to get drawn for any big game permits here in Arizona any more (last time I was drawn for anything was for Elk in 1991, total zip on all species since then) - just too darn many people moved to Arizona. The lack of need limits my interest in setting up the range (and dragging a lot of long guns out there) to some degree. Darn, I just need to get some time and go shoot some of those rifles (heck, rifles were my favorites for many years, handguns second, shotguns a rather distant third, but for the last 20-30 years, handguns have been first, rifles second). Oh yeah, I bought a Remington 700 .308 a few weeks ago at a garage sale. Built October, 1972 (per the barrel date code), it appears unfired, the seller said he bought it for his son, and would be surprised if he ever shot it. Never had a scope mounted on it, and the bore is so crisp, with deep rifling, that it is unbelievable. I took it home and thouroughly cleaned it, removed a lot of 37 year old grease and dried oil (the action had never before been removed from the stock), and the barrel yielded only a trace of powder fouling, just as one would expect from a factory test-firing. I need to mount a scope, and plan to "break in" the barrel with slow firing/cleaning/firing, etc., just in case. BTW, the trigger on the Remington is absolutely beautiful - no creep at all, and it is so light that it seems you could breathe on it to fire it - as an old competitive target shooter, that is right up my alley, and was what really made me decide to purchase the rifle. Yep, I need to go shoot some long guns soon!

A brand new CZ75-SA custom built to my specs by Angus Hobdell at Ghost Products. I'm dying to shoot it, but the weather has just not been cooperating. Maybe this week.

I've got a list a mile long. For some reason I just don't feel the need to shoot them. For several reasons actually; because they're NIB, LNIB, old and pristine, rare, costly to shoot, etc.
Some of them I just enjoy handling, showing off and looking at although I'm sure some of them were fired before I got them. I have to say I get more personal satisfaction in the ownership and than I do blasting away and some even have 5K rounds set aside for them. I guess we're all wired differently.
I got on a kick of hoarding ammo for a while KNOWING that it would take me 2 lifetimes to shoot it all and I can't stand owning anything that don't have at least a box of shells for.

I have no guns I haven't shot. That includes the .32 rim fire, Flobet, was just going to hang it on the wall, but even at nearly $50 a box, I just couldn't resist taking a few shots (not very impressive, but it works).

Haven't shot yet, eh? Well lets see..
