I recently acquired a nice A-prefix Model 52-2. It seemed to be in very nice shape (I bought it off of GB) but when I received it I found a lot of accumulated crud on the breechface. When I cleaned that off, I found what can only be described as deliberate scratching on the breechface. . .as though some idiot had used an ice pick to remove the carbon fouling that accumulates there. This probably isn't a operating or safety issue, but I know rough breech faces can lead/contribute to extraction/ejection problems, and I would like a 'smith with specific Model 52-2 experience and credentials to look this gun over to see if there are any other problems, polish the breech face, etc.
Any recommendations based on actual experience with a good Model 52-2 gunsmith? Please reply here or to the email address listed in my profile.
Thanks.
