So sorry for your loss!
Had to do the same over the weekend.Euthanized...hell of a word. The pld boy was near 19 as well as we can figure. One of many strays we were feeding/catching neutering. Couldn't catch him..Came up one day all chewed up after a fight with a coon. He let my wife fix him up fed up and he decided it was a pretty good gig...He still got THE trip to the vet though. Had a stroke was getting over it mostly and had another. Good cat that seemed to appreciate owning us. Gonna miss the ol buzzard
We have gone through the grief of having a good cat pass over the rainbow bridge. Sometimes it has to be done and is mercy to the suffering animal. One day you will be reunited.Euthanized...hell of a word. The pld boy was near 19 as well as we can figure. One of many strays we were feeding/catching neutering. To me it's worse than losing a human family member. Our dogs have always been part of our family. I lost my last collie almost 3 years ago and still get choked up when I think about him, even as I type this. The only thing that helps is to get another one quickly. We've always done that. It's amazing how much a puppy helps you heal. The two spazzes in my profile pic are the result this time. I got 2 brothers at 8 weeks that are almost identical. They turned 3 yesterday.I had to say goodbye to my dog last week. It's never easy.
We started this portion of our journey with five furry friends. Most of them did not seem to care for the others. But as each has passed over the Rainbow Bridge, the others spent inordinate time looking for them. They missed their house mates too. We have a cat that her unoffical name is "Psycho B....".Hard thing to end a friends life. We have a couple other rescues. The young female(Ruby Begonia.)..remember Amos and Andy?) is a little psycho...and is missing her mentor ...not eating...searching....curled up in his basket/never before though... and the other younger black cat is searching also..He has a disability from being kicked by a horse...It's amazing. It seems as though they miss the old boy as much as my wife and I do. All our cats have a little problem...physically or mentally...Thank you all for your replies..they mean a lot to us
I think the reason it may be harder to lose one of the critters that choose to live with us...is because we have to make the decision to end their lives...guilt I guess. We had a pair of labs for many yeas...brother and sister.Harry and Hannah.... The old male dog was having a hard time and we knew we had to make that decision...we made an appointment with the vet for a week later. That weekend the female had a mild stroke...we saw it happen. We made her comfortable and the day before the vet visit she had another much worse. The vet examined her and we had to make the decision to make the same decision for both. Born the same day...passed the same day...a really hard thing to do...my wife wants no more dogs...we have to choose them...cats choose to own us...Thank y'all for the kind thoughtsTo me it's worse than losing a human family member. This is making me tear up again. In three weeks it'll be 3 years since I lost my Alexander. One of the worst days of my life.
