Hard thing to end a friends life. We have a couple other rescues. The young female(Ruby Begonia.)..remember Amos and Andy?) is a little psycho...and is missing her mentor ...not eating...searching....curled up in his basket/never before though... and the other younger black cat is searching also..He has a disability from being kicked by a horse...It's amazing. It seems as though they miss the old boy as much as my wife and I do. All our cats have a little problem...physically or mentally...Thank you all for your replies..they mean a lot to us

We started this portion of our journey with five furry friends. Most of them did not seem to care for the others. But as each has passed over the Rainbow Bridge, the others spent inordinate time looking for them. They missed their house mates too. We have a cat that her unoffical name is "Psycho B....".
I think the reason it may be harder to lose one of the critters that choose to live with us...is because we have to make the decision to end their lives...guilt I guess. We had a pair of labs for many yeas...brother and sister.Harry and Hannah.... The old male dog was having a hard time and we knew we had to make that decision...we made an appointment with the vet for a week later. That weekend the female had a mild stroke...we saw it happen. We made her comfortable and the day before the vet visit she had another much worse. The vet examined her and we had to make the decision to make the same decision for both. Born the same day...passed the same day...a really hard thing to do...my wife wants no more dogs...we have to choose them...cats choose to own us...Thank y'all for the kind thoughts
My sincere condolences. One of the worst days of my life was saying goodbye to Oliver Kitty.

This is making me tear up again. In three weeks it'll be 3 years since I lost my Alexander. One of the worst days of my life.

Losing any pet is hard, and I hope you are doing okay now. I've never been much of a cat person, having had dogs my entire life (and have two right now). We've had a few cats over the years but I don't think I bonded with most of them as I have with my dogs. But on a recent visit to my oldest son I spent some time with his cat, a Ragdoll bread and about the biggest cat I have ever encountered. This cat is more like a dog than many dogs that I have known, wanting to sit in my lap and follow me around the house. Maybe its the temperment of this breed of cat, but it has gotten me to think about getting a Ragdoll for us. I'm not sure how my two dogs will react if we try to add a cat to the household, but the dogs are pretty gentle creatures and it might work out. And it sure is easier to like animals than it is to like some people.
We've put down the last of our cats right at home. We found a vet that comes to your house where the old boy was comfortable, she let us be with him, explained everything in detail. Hauled him a way and sent his ashes in a nice wooden box. Did all that for a decent price, well worth the money and lack of running around.

Sorry for your loss! But I know how to fix that hurt. Adopt - Go to the shelter or find an abandoned cat or dog on the road and adopt them!
