I've got a S&W Hand Ejector; 4th Model in .44 Special on layaway. It's in excellent mechanical condition with a bright bore. It does have quite abit of holster wear and a "target" front sight. The barrel is 6" long. I'm paying $475 for it. I was just wondering about these pistols. What can anyone tell me?

If that's actually a 4th Model 1950 Target 44 you paid about 20% the going rate unless there is something seriously wrong with it.

Should be a 6.5" barrel.

They are much desired by some folks. Target model is no mistake. 25yds single action with no rest using cowboy reloads.

That's a great price even with the honest holster wear.

Can we presume it also has the traget rear sight? You only mentioned the target front sight. Did you mention that fact because it has a post front sight (called a Patridge sight)? Is so that is the standard and correct front sight for 1950 .44 and other Target models with long barrels of that period.

Not to be super critical but just FYI, pistols with revolving cylinders are more correctly called revolvers not pistols. Many including you probably know that already but we try not to use mis-nomers that might mislead any newbies on this forum.

You did good by grabbing that one! Can't wait to see photos when you get it.
