One form of happiness is a windfall of some unexpected money. Another kind of happiness is the discovery of a new LGS very near your neighborhood.
I experienced the former yesterday and the latter earlier today.
I got a late Christmas check in the mail yesterday and I knew instantly what I was going to do with it. I haven't popped a cap since last April so I decided to get back in the groove.
Today I'm still buzzed about going shooting and decided to hit a few places in search of some fresh ammo. I didn't have to go too far neither. Driving along Pasadena Blvd. I just happen to look to the right and there in this little strip shopping center is a new looking sign with the stores name on it.

I nearly had a wreck turning around. WHAT!?!? How long has THAT been there? I never noticed it before. 'Course a lot gets by me these days but still, a new gun store??
I went in and met the owner. A fine gentleman, an experienced hunter judging by all the exotic animal mounts around the shop, and an FFL to boot. He opened for business back in September of '13. He is still building his inventory but already has a goodly amount of neat stuff for shootin' and fishin'. He has some ammo but not a lot at this time. What he does have is for sale at reasonable prices. I picked up a box of 9mm and a box of .45 acp. After some of the prices I've seen and heard about lately I felt like a thief when I walked out of there.
I posted this up to celebrate my 2 days in a row of good fortune (can I get a "hell yea!).
I have always hated buying guns, ammo and accessories in a mass merchandiser and having to deal with shoe clerks. Having a decent, knowledgeable and fair minded gun store in the hood is a true blessing and I hope like the devil that he makes a go of it.
Now the plan it to hit the range on Thursday. I have sent a shout-out to all my old shootin' buds and we will meet at the local choke-n-puke for breakfast and then on to the range. Just line anything else you love to do, to be able to do it again after not being able to is one heck of a rush!
I'll be taking 3 handguns. My Glock-36 cause it's one that I carry a large percentage of the time, The Glock-17 cause it's my plinker, and my 24-3. I haven't given Mr. Horton a work out in some time and I just couldn't bear to leave it behind.
I'm gonna try and remember not to have any caffeine before I shoot. Y'all have seen the effect THAT has on me. Do not operate heavy equipment or handle fire arms or edged weapons while buzzin'!
