First off, this is not an April Fool's
posting. I mean it.

Back in the day, I owned few guns
and enjoyed them, shooting them
often. They were pistols, revolvers,
rifles. But few.

I was a happy shooter.

With time I started becoming an
Accumulator (capital "A") of all
sorts of guns. Then came a phase
when I became a collector (lower
case "C" but more an accumulator).

Now with some decades piled on, I've
paired way down to just a few
shooters, backups for them and
one collectible.

I enjoy those few I have left more than
when I had many. I am happier. :):):)

One of my most enjoyable things in our hobby is my big every other month gun show and one thing I see a LOT at that show are older guys with their stuff.

This is what I envision for myself after I'm retired and also after my shooting slows down.

While I certainly want to leave some specifics for certain people, my collection is beyond that and selling a couple every couple of months is going to be a lot of fun I'll bet. I'm not quite 50 years old yet, so I'm talking about a later date in the future.

In 2013 I sold off all but two of my handguns and started over. I currently own less than 10 firearms. All but one of the handguns are 9mm and thre of them operate on the same type magazine which makes it much easier to keep them supplied. We were able to stock 9mm right up until the Covid bomb hit.

I'm quite content.

I've considered selling all those that I don't shoot much, some I have never shot. I did shoot more and enjoyed it when I had only one 22LR pistol, one 357 Magnum revolver, and one 9mm pistol.

I shoot at my club's inside range one day every week all Winter. In the Summer I shoot at my cabin every weekend on my own outdoor range. I usually take 4 handguns, 2 in a single caliber, and 2 in .22 RF. That way after the outing I only have a single caliber to reload.

Every so often I make a list of what guns to take. If I only had a couple of guns it would be boring shooting the same ones every week.

When I'm gone, my heirs can worry about liquidating the herd. They will end up with the proceeds of course. Sucks to be them.

The number doesn't really matter as I am sure the questionnaire at the Pearly Gates Placement Center does not ask:

"How many guns did you own?"

"Were any of them polymer?"

"How much ammo did you stockpile?"

Wrong on at least one count. For
each polymer you owned, a hundred
years will be added to Purgatory time.

have sold, like other members i'm sure weapons that i could/ should have kept. would like to get an AR 15 or AR10. waited to long on the decision, priced to high now. never owned or care for the 9 mm weapon platform.

Wish I was there when you were unloading all of those guns. I still need some to round out my collection.
