Happy Birthday United States Marines

My supervising attorney is a Marine, having served a hitch during Desert Storm. He told me this week that on the Marines birthday, it is traditional for each command to have a birthday cake, no matter where the unit is deployed, and the first and second slices go to the longest-serving and the newest Marines present. A nice tradition, I think.

He also related the Marines were "born" in Tun Tavern in Philadelphia -- a fact I had forgotten along the way.

Happy Birthday, Globe-and-Anchor men and women!

I have a lot of respect for the USMC. They make good men. One kid our HS was kind of a loser, strange guy. Some years later I ran into him at a gas station. He had done 4 years in the Corps. He was a different person, very good to see him. Way to go to both of them. Semper Fi! Happy birthday!

Happy birthday to all Marines" I had the pleasure to serve with the 5th Marine Division as an FMF corpsman. Great bunch of guys. I don't remember ever having top pay for my beer in the EM club.

The main thing I took away from my experience with these guys is a saying they had: ADAPT AND OVEROME. I can't count the number of times in my life that this has save my bacon.

Thank you Walkin' Jack.
You forgot it's Improvise, Adapt and Overcome.
But that's OK.
Marines owe all "Green and Blue Corpsman" more than we could ever repay.
And that includes Army and Air Force Medics.
