Has anyone else ever.....

been so dumb as to wash a pair of britches with a Bianchi speedstrip in them with 6 rounds of ammo (federal hydrashocks) and then run them through the clothes dryer.
What's that thumping in the dryer I thought? Is assume the ammo is no good and I would never carry it but should I toss it out? Maybe save it for a range trip? I have had a ccw for most of twenty years and this is the first time this has happened to me.

Oh, quit your bellyachin'. I hate to use the phrase, but man up and make something good out of it. Well, you could declare the speed strip "no good" and then send it to me... But a better course of action would be a range trip to test the ammo. I fully expect it to fire just fine. Shoot it at a target. If it all does fire, we're interested in its accuracy.

Here's your first test. Find a very quiet place and then carefully shake a similar round you haven't "cleaned". Listen to see if you can hear the powder rattling inside. Then do the same for the cleaned rounds. If no difference, fire away.

You may want to bring a length of wood dowel and a mallet with you to the range in case you need to drive a bullet out of the barrel. If you get a squib load you'll be happy you came prepared

Thanks for the response. Failed the first test. The unwashed round sounded light and airy. The washed round sounded heavy and not so airy.
Man, I feel a whole lot better knowing others have done this. God Bless the internet, curing and causing insecurities for over a decade.

I'll take them to the range. I think they will go fine but I will take a squib rod in case. Thanks guys.

The best I have done so far is a S&W 649, holster and speed loader, pair of hearing aids and my glasses. All in one wash and dry, didn't sound any different to me because I couldn't hear it.

The hearing aids worked better, the gun just as good, the holster a little tighter and I could see better out of the glasses. I chucked the ammo.

I wash loaded speed strips about every two months it seems, never had an issue with the ammo.

Hydrashocks aren't my first choice in ammo, but I can say that they are waterproofed rather well.

I probably washed loaded Speed Strips 10 times. Hollowpoints get a bit battered and rounded off, and I don't carry the ammo that goes through the wash, but I have never had one fail to fire and hit the target when I'ved used it for practice.

Take them to the range and use them for practice. I have washed and dried more rounds than I can remember in the past 26 years and never had one fail to fire properly. No worries.

You know. I noticed I never did this with speedloaders!!! But I just like the speedstrips now. Speedloaders are like packing another really , really light, short revolver.

Yep. It's about as easy to hide a second gun as another speedloader.
