Have ammo prices finally topped out?

Just back from my local Cabela's ...

SCORE!

500 round pack of WWB for $119.99 (I'm not low, but these days I'll take $12/box whenever I can find it)

They were moving fast. I arrived about 20 minutes after they opened, and feel fortunate to have gotten my hands on one. It wasn't what I went in for, but once I saw the (quickly dwindling) stack ... it became what I was after. People were standing around with a box under one arm and their phones out talking to friends/family telling them to hurry up if they wanted any. I'll wager it was all gone by the time I left the parking lot.

Unfortunately, they didn't have any of the .45LC that I went in looking for in the first place.

Fortunately (for my wallet's sake) they didn't have anything in the S&W used revolver case that caught my eye either.

My cousin bought his wife a S&W .380 EZ for Christmas a few years ago. I sold a Bersa .380 a few months ago. Seeing I didn't need any .380 ammo I gave 5 (50 rd.) boxes of Winchester Ranger T-Series ammo to them.

It's starting to look like 50 Beauwolf for $1.50 to $3.00 is a good deal and available several places. I only have 24 rounds for the gun I got last week.

Ammoman.com is selling mixed ammo packaged in sandwich bags (floor sweepings). Primarily because he has nothing else to offer.

Things are still looking crazy. I have always loved Outdoor Limited for ammo, but no more. The stuff they have in stock is at gouging prices. $80 for a box of PMC .380 FMJ ammo! A buck a round for generic .38 SPL. They're dead to me now.

I don't think I will need any ammo for the next week or two but when I run out I hope there is some available and I don't care if is priced at what some are calling gouging. I had rather spend my money on ammo than go to a fancy restaurant and flush it down the toilet the next day. That kind of thinking is the reason I don't think I will need to buy ammo in the next week or two. Larry

This is why I purchased a 7.62x39 upper for my AR. 7.62x39 ammo is still less than crazy, and available online. If that fails, I have an AK. Because, you know, you chamber a small mouse, it will still go bang.

CCI Blazer 9mm 115gr FMJ has been sitting unsold at $359/500 on GunBroker the last few days. If this is any indication, prices look to have already topped out and are starting to come down.

Because people are realizing that ammo is still being manufactured and there are retailers selling at realistic prices. The post showing Cabelas selling it recently are giving people pause to wait. But I do think that in certain region, price will still stay up. Guaranteed in Kentucky, ammo price will stay up.

if you are willing to wait, online sites in some cases will take a backorder for ammo, not charge you CC till shipped and offer it at reasonable prices....the wait my vary from 3-6 weeks or 2 to 3 months, depending on the caliber. Again if you need it now different story but Im willing to wait on it.......have 5 orders pending shipment now to include 9mm 380 ACP and 5.56. Most have been on order since late July.
