Have You Ever Found A Gun In Your Safe You Have No Memory Of?

No but I have forgotten where I put one of my carry guns from time to time when I hid them someplace or left them in a vehicle for some reason. Jimmy, have been waiting for the money you owe me and was about to post a scam alert, so please get it sent off to me ASAP.

In my experience, Model 94 rifles, S&W revolvers, CZ-75 pistols, Beretta 81 series pistols and PP series pistols all breed when two or more are left in a gun safe

Yep

We are all getting older and prone to forgetting things. Finding a nice 44 revolver you don't remember trading for is just a bonus of having a good collection and enjoying life. Carry on sir.

Not that I forget that I have it,,
I never take it out,,

I always grab the M1 with the extension tube, and tritium sites,,
The "plane Jane" M1 just sets and waits,,

I bought them both when M1 was the "THING!",,
So I have had them a while,, :D

LVSteve; You made reference to Dirty Birds on K98. What does that signify?

The Nazi eagles with the Swastika in their claws. During refurb, the Russians usually had a Vlad or Ludmilla with a punch defacing the Swastikas. Guess they were on a vodka break when my rifle came in.

I do keep meticulous records of all my firearms as mentioned above. I would say this goes beyond a senior moment,

So do I, that's why I was shocked to find a firearm that I have no idea where it came from or even jogged my memory. I just added it to my list. Not a big fan of black powder guns so that may be why I forgot about it.

I've got a Russian capture K 98 and it is very well made and a fine shooter. The "Dirty Birds" are still there and a friend has one that Vladimir stamped out. As mentioned above, the Vodka break probably had something to do with it.

Sort of similar, but years ago I thought I had left a S&W model 38 in a Florida hotel room. The gun was very special to me because in 1971 my partner shot and killed a guy with it who was trying to shoot me. I bought it from him a few months later. My wife and fellow officer was shot and killed on 12/31/84. Her father died two years later from cancer. I stayed close to my mother in law until she died. Around 2007 before she passed away she called me and wanted me to look at a gun she had. It was my model 38. My wife had loaned it to her father right before she was killed. I got my MIL another J frame .38 and got the model 38 back. I still have it. My son knows all about it. It will go to him when the dirt nap comes.

While looking for a Colt .22, I discovered a Smith 34-1 that I have NO memory of buying, or even looking at for that matter.

I've had this happen with other guns before as well. When one's collection gets above 150, I would think this is easy to do.

yes... While organizing a box with old Mint Set coins.
Tucked in with the coins, was a box about the same dimensions as the others, but with a sleeve.
It was a Berretta M2 Minx.

I don't remember buying it, or even why I would want to.
The receipt was in the box, from a Tampa FL gun store, with my signature, dated 1982.

It needed a little cleaning and Lube, but works just fine.

What were they?

uh, like an LC Smith side by side shotgun, a remington pump action 22, and a single shot .22lr. I think. I don't think I have any of them any more. Maybe the 12g shotgun, I would have to dig through my stuff. Nothing I really cared about. No reg mags.

But they were all so rusted up from being rolled into a carpet that while the internals were fine-ish, the externals were a complete mess.

A Kimber Warrior...bought a Wilson Combat shortly after and promptly forgot about the Kimber. Once I rediscovered it I have shot it a good deal. Nice pistol.
