"Just gotta make sure to get my protein."
Hello snubbyfan,
I very much admire your tenacity and diligence to your health and work out routines.
How many grams of protein are you consuming per day, per week?
Is there a particular time of day that you are targeting your protein supplements?
Is Creatine included in your supplements – if so, how many grams per day?
What is the source of the proteins – plant or animal, and in what foods do you prefer?
Are you supplementing any specific amino acids?
Thank you.
I don't subscribe to the "one gram of protein for every one pound of bodyweight" that people like to recommend.
Rather I follow the one gram of protein for every kilogram of lean body mass.
That means at 166 pounds and 10.5% bodyfat, my lean mass is 148.57 pounds or 67.39 kilograms which is 67.39 grams of protein.
That being said, I don't track each gram, I just eat mindfully.
That means lotsa chicken breast, pork, ground bison, high protein pasta with high protein turkey balls, stuff like that.
I rarely eat out and no fast food ever unless it's either that or starve.
On an activity day such as a gym day, hiking or biking, I'll supplement with a protein drink. Usually right after the activity then a high protein supper. Usually another protein drink the next morning.
For protein drinks I use "Gold Standard" protein powder with one cup of skim milk. That comes to 32 grams of protein and 200 calories.
I take 5 grams of creatine monohydrate powder with 1 cup of water daily in the morning.
I also make sure to get clean(ish) carbs and "good" fats while keeping in mind that carbs and fats are generally calorie dense.
No fad diets. I just endeavor to eat healthy while being mindful of my protein intake.
