"healthy" breakfast I have not enjoyed in 30 plus years.

When I was in elementary school. mom was a big deal in the OHIO PTA. Every year she would go to Chicago for the national convention. That left dad to cook for 3 nights!! Here is what he served for the first and third night.

1) Open both ends of the can of hash.

2) Slide out the "Loaf" and cut into 4 slices.

3) Lay on broiler pan and use a spoon to indent the center.

4) Crack whole egg into indentation, Salt & Pepper to taste.

5) Broil until egg white is cooked, and yoke is still runny.

6) Serve with burnt toast! and a glass of milk.

7) Ice Cream chaser!

The second night was Friday and Pizza from the cheapest place that delivered was served. (With milk and a Ice Cream chaser.)

Since turning 65 a few years ago I resolved to start smoking unfiltered Camels, drinking cheap rye whiskey, and eating whatever I want. Just a patriot helping save Social Security - you're welcome.

When I was a young Trooper at the post, we had a couple of "really old" guys that would stop in around shift change to visit and I would give them a hard time about being drains on our retirement system.
Now I realize that I am one of those "really old" guys, and I am the drain on our retirement system. In not too many years, I will have been retired longer than I worked in the system.
I guess I have decided to just enjoy myself until my time has come to be removed from the system.

To paraphrase Monty Python: Oh, we used to dream of corned beef hash! Hash wasn't a staple of our diet, mostly because my father hated it. I thought it was tasty, myself. Usually when we had hash though, it was part of my mother's using every bit of the food available. Luckily her recipe for deer heart hash was in her head and is now gone.
And there was much rejoicing.

I gotta get a can or two of that stuff!

Recently, when we go to a supermarket, I pick up a can of survival food. I am building a stash in the garage just in case the apocalypse (or a major quake, etc) hits.

Prudent, right?

My wife thinks I'm kinda nuts and that we'll never eat the stuff, but I figger if we don't eat it in a couple of years I'll give it to a Girl Scouts food drive or similar, and start over.

In keeping with the theme of unhealthy but tasty, a cookbook for your consideration:

I live vicariously by watching this guys videos. In my youth I could have eaten like this with no issues because I had the metabolism of a hummingbird. Now I think my cholesterol goes up just watching the videos.

Make your own and top with poached eggs and some hot sauce.
Less fat, less sodium and more better! ;)

I love my SPAM and love my corned beef hash, but I'd give them both away for a few slices of fried livermush. Kind of a midwestern NC thing. Two slices of livermush slathered with grape jelly on bread!

I just threw up a little bit in my mouth! I believe that MUST be a SMSgt, and only a SMSgt thing!!:D

I Love me some Corned beef Hash with Eggs over easy on top, with country fried potatoes on the side, them big cut ones, topped with sausage gravy. Fried Spam sammich is also a favorite.
