If you live in MA, it's important that you make every effort to attend. Late notice of the hearing from the legislature, middle of the work week, when parking is most expensive and travel is most difficult.

The other side will be there, we need to be there.

Alert - Public Hearing August 28 MA State House - GOAL.ORG

The Joint Committee on Public Safety has scheduled a very rare August hearing. The hearing will take place on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 10:00 AM in room A2 at the State House. Your attendance at this hearing in opposition to the many draconian proposals is of paramount importance!
The list of bills that will be heard includes anti-civil rights proposals such as:

  • One gun a month;
  • Banning all standard magazines;
  • Mandating annual inspections of guns by local law enforcement;
  • Mandatory live fire training for licensing;
  • All guns offered for sale must be photographed and test fired by the state crime lab;
  • Requiring liability insurance for all gun owners;

Good luck to you guys and gals up there.

I moved away from an oppressive state but will never get to think this disease can be confined. Slowly they chip away.

You are wise for knowing this cant be confined. From these states they move to the Southeast for lower taxes. They come here to VT on weekends, then buy second homes. We call the state 2 lane that runs through our area the Jersey Turnpike on weekends. They bring these beliefs with them, anyone who thinks they are immune has a big surprise coming their way. We all must remain vigilant, and support our fellow gun owners in these states as they face insurmountable odds.

I wish I could join you Gary, I just started a new job today and definitely can't take the day off. Hopefully there will be a strong turn out.

You are correct but too often we spend our time trying to keep the chips in place. What's needed is to remove the hammer and chisels.
Good luck up there. We defeated their last attempt recently in the Virginia capitol so you can too!

Jessie, we have a razor thin advantage in Richmond. I'm afraid of a flip come Nov. NOVA has a large advantage and it's moving into Hampton Roads rapidly!

Sounds like poor old TTSH needs to dig deep for some train money for Wednesday. :o No way I'm driving into that crazy town! :p

Commuter rail is an option, but I'll probably drive. I'll decide tomorrow or maybe even Wednesday morning.

Either is a better option than the rattler.
Where the heck do you park around the statehouse? :confused: It must cost a king's ransom... yes? :confused:

I'm partway through rewatching "Red Dawn" right now. Makes me want to scream at how unthinking the anti-2A people are.

WOW That is going way beyond a bit of shall not infringe. How these people keep getting reelected is ridiculous. The small percentage of people that actually vote or even speak out in support of their rights I guess it is understandable. I have to say people having had enough is what got Trump elected. Now people need speak up at the local and state levels.

If you say nothing your silence could be deafening when it is used against you later on. Just imagine where this country would be if it were not for the Boston Tea Party.

In 1998 MA enacted some very, very, restrictive gun laws. We were warned, but most of us scoffed and didn't pay attention. Next thing we knew, we were saddled with magazine bans, a restrictive roster, and other anti 2A laws.

Some of that was "fixed" in 2013/14, but most of it is still in place.

Yep people say it will not happen because we have the 2nd Amendment but yet it is happening ban by ban state by state as we sit back in our lazy boy complaining. The SCOTUS isn't doing all that much to stop it either. Look at CA, NY, NJ and other states as well as cities that have all but taken away the 2nd Amendment by infringement after infringement.

The infringement clause was included because if a person cannot own an equivalent weapon of the times then he has little to no chance of protecting himself. Can anyone imagine if our military foot soldiers today only had muskets to go into battle. That's why the people were protected by shall not infringe. But look at where we are today and what we might be left with tomorrow or should I say without.

People tell me that the Second Amendment was enacted to protect muskets and single shot pistols. I tell them that the First Amendment was enacted to protect quill pens and hand set printing presses. The Fourth was written to protect people from a search of their papers and belongings, not telephone calls or emails.

I still haven't received a reasonable reply yet.
