I live in MA and have a relative in Montgomery Vermont near the border with Canada. when I visit VT I've found the gun shops cater to hunters/farmers and sell mostly rifles....I saw virtually zero pistols, but being a free state(NOT MA) you can order any gun you find on gunbroker or gunsamerica etc. and have it shipped to a gun shop near you.Good luck in your search. There are some really nice S&W's out there to buy!
