I decided to join this forum as I just bought a Smith & Wesson Model 43 at my local gun dealer. It's on layaway and I expect to actually bring it home sometime next month.
About 10 years ago I took a class given by the NRA that was especially for women. I went to the shooting range and used a gun for the first time in my life. However, I didn't purchase a gun at that time because I had a young daughter still at home and having a gun around made me nervous. Now she is 21 and lives at college most of the year, so I decided to go for it!
It intrigued me that the dealer told me the value of the gun would likely increase and it was a good investment. That sold me on the gun as well as a few other things.
I realize that 22 caliber weapons are not the best for self defense but I wanted something smaller and with not too much recoil. Perhaps I'll move up to a large caliber weapon later on but I felt this was a good weapon to start out with.
I look forward to learning on this forum from others who are much more experienced than myself.
Thanks and it's good to be here
