I have been lurkin around here for about a week trying to learn the lingo and etiquette. I recently rediscovered several guns that my grandfather left me. After a week of research on these forums Here's what I think they are:
1. 38 S&W Regulation Police #666xx
2. 38 Spcl Chief's Special Airweight
3. K 38 Combat Masterpiece
4. 38 Spcl. Victory model #V2016xx

Gramps worked for the for the sheriff's dept in the '50s so I assume that's why he had them.

Hi robertrwalsh
I haven't been to a range since the indoor one on Hammer Lane closed. Is there another place to go in town. My wife wants to learn to shoot.

There is a nice SMALL indoor range in Ripon, Barnwood Arms. There is an outdoor public range at the Manteca Sportsman's Club about 6 miles south of DVI. There is also a public range located east of town, the San Joaquin Pistol and Rifle Range.

Of course, in most of Stockton you can shoot in your back yard as the cops don't respond to shots fired calls any more unless there is blood on the ground. (Just kidding about shooting in your back yard. Not kidding about the police response.)

You're not too far off on the back yard comment. The cops tasered a 16 year old burglar in my neighbors backyard at 4:00 in the morning last week. It's getting pretty bad around here. The neighbor called my wife to tell her she saw a kid get off his bike and go into our backyard just a few days before that. Which prompted the renewed interest in gramp's revolvers.

Hello back to you all. Looks like there are several people from Stockton here. I wonder if the Record's headline this morning about Stockton having the second highest crime rate in the entire state has anything to do with it? Really, why do we live here? Oh yeah, probably because we can't sell our houses because we live in the highest foreclose area in the entire world.

Welcome from Lathrop, neighbor!

About the comment regarding shots fired, it's about the same here too. Except here the cops will respond to a "man with gun" call. I've been visited a couple of times while carrying in my garage with the door open. It was the same both times:
"One of your neighbors called us saying you were carrying a gun."
"Yea, so what???!"
"Why are you carrying a gun sir?"
"Is it not my right to carry on my own property?"
"Well, er, yes sir it is."
"Goodbye officer and have a nice day."
:) :) :)

Hello form lodi

Maybe all in the stockton area can join up and go to the range sometime. I have a Model 64 and a 4566 and a 340pd. E-mail me at [email protected] if any of you want to meet up. I like the gunroom in elk grove and also to spencville in grass valley. It is a wildlfe area ran by fish and game with a range on it. See ya all later.
