Accidentally bought a thing on gunbroker

Minus the excellent name, the hogue monogrips had to go.

Now this is probably the best $205 I've spent recently, but there's a problem. When all the sideplate screws are tightened down the hammer binds and it's useless. I've cleaned all the crud off and there's no obstruction. If I back off either non-crane screw 2 turns it's fine. What's the fix for this?

I had the same problem on a Model 28. What finally fixed it was simply chamfering the edges of the pivot hole in the hammer. The sharp edges of that hole would bind on the base radius of the pivot stud when the sideplate screws were tightened.
Good luck, and please do keep us posted.

Fix'in Boozers!

OH NO! Not another "Buy Button" accidental discharge! Yet another case of the old going off 'halfcocked' defense! Sounds like Gunbroker and Ashley Madison clientele have the same kind of problems! :)

Well as photo'd, your acquisition does suggest likely a great buy at the price mentioned! But then just to note my assumption that this was some kind of a clandestine model issue. That from the fact that readers here evidentally lack the requisite 'need to know'! Such in order for you to furnish amplifying information as model and other relevant specs! But, how about just pulling a Snowden and fessing up all the details. (Err… Speaking of the Smith not Madison!)

Oh yea... In terms of "fixin Boozers", sometimes just the universal solution... If you can't fixem, join em!

:) :) :)

Just my take

My first impression was that it was a PPC gun,but after looking it over more thoroughly decided it was made up as a target revolver. PPC guns usually had 6" long barrels. And since a 4" barrel was used the sights had to be setback further than they would normally be. I like it. Besides puts a little weight out front where it's needed. Looks like a model 15 was used as the base gun. Frank

The base is a 10-6, and your guess on the reason for the build is as good as mine. This style gun screams PPC, and the style of sights, particularly the width of the front would be kinda weird for a target gun, though they're amazing at rapid soda can annihilation.

I shot PPC on the police explorer pistol team back in the 70's. A lot of the old guys used set ups just like this, to game the 2" snub nose side matches.

Neato, that makes sense. I really need to dig more in depth about actual PPC shooting.

Boozer is an amazing shooter, I shoot it like a damned laser. I feel old PPC guns is going to be a dangerous hobby.
