Wrong 9mm barrel. Here's the one you need:

Smith & Wesson Barrel S&W Compact 9mm Luger

I use a Blackhawk Serpa Lvl 2 OWB holster. Less than $50, and comes with a paddle and also belt attachment. Gun cases are cheap enough, local sporting goods stores will carry them. Also, I noticed you didn't order any full size magazines and grip extensions. Didn't know if you wanted those in the list or not. The .22 magazines are on that site as well, but they're currently out of stock.

A sight for the barrels (.40 to 9mm) states you need to replace the extractor for reliable operation. Not true?

Ok I updated the list. Thanks for setting me straight with the barrel :)

Added the mags from 44mag.com. Buy my 15-22 mags from them.

Nothing wrong with saving a few :)

My buddy text this to me the other night

"If you want to do 9 too you need to buy a new slide and recoils spring an everything too cause the extractor won't work on a 9 because of the smaller diameter and the recoil spring might be to stiff from the 40 to a 9."

So would I need more if I wanted to change the .40c to a 9c? Or is the barrel all I would need for the conversion?

Every gun I own is a 9mm, besides a .38 342pd that I shoot about ten rounds through when I go to the range.

My wife and I (she's 5' 1" and 105 lbs) both shoot, and she is new to handguns. The m&p compact fits her just fine, and the 9mm is a much cheaper round to shoot.

Keep an eye on Dunham's and join their online coupon club. Makes 500 rounds cost about 110 dollars before tax.

There are gun clubs closer to you (I'm in Rochester Hills), but if you're interested, I go down to the Raccoon Hunters club in Romulus once a week to shoot Idpa. It's the closest thing I've found to real and made me MUCH more competent and comfortable shooting.

They were really nice to me when I made stupid mistakes, and JP Porcalla runs a CPL class in that neck of the woods. You'd be hard pressed to find a more competent instructor.

I don't stand to gain anything by telling you that, and he probably wouldn't even remember my name if he heard it, but his was my 2nd class and much, much more informative than the first.

Yes, just the barrel is all that is needed. Your buddy is wrong. Many people have done this and it works just fine. It's nothing new.

Your buddy is wrong.

If you would like, I can use the search function and find you some threads to read on this forum which show micrometer readings of the two barrels side by side, comparisons, experiences, you name it. There are even a lot of videos of people dropping a 9mm barrel in a M&P 40 and firing away. You really don't even need to change the mag.

Or maybe you could do the search.... :p

There have been like 10,000 posts on converting to 9mm.... ;)
