help with a car part

Yeah, you gotta pay. And that's a decent price. 2 days seems ridiculous unless they give you a loaner.
Another thing about those check engine lights is the remote starter won't work if there's a code of some sort.

What is the code? Auto Zone will scan for free. Internet will give codes. You need to clear the code with a pocket scan and see if it comes back, If a hard code the light will come back on quick. If a soft code it will take a while to come on. Oxygen sensors and egr and evap codes are pretty easy to fix. Evap code is a solenoid that costs about $20. Gas caps rarely give a problem. Shops will sell you a gas cap and charge you $100 and the light will stay out for a couple of days. When you take it back they tell you something else has happened and want more money. It's like adding Freon and the problem ain't fixed. Codes are easy to look up.

Engine air filtration system? Cabin filtration? Both of these are cheap parts and fairly easy to change. Take it down to your favorite local parts store and they will pull the code for free and most likely have the part in stock. If it's the engine air filter it can be changed in under five minutes. Cabin air filters vary in complexity. Some are as easy as opening the glove compartment. Some require a few screws to be removed and the worst require some interior trim panels to be popped off.

My guess is $25 in parts, 5-15 minutes in labor. It can probably be done right there in the store parking lot.
Make sure they clear the code before you leave.
