Was getting ready to smoke some pork and had an issue with the air damper.I usually close it when preheating but it was still partially open from the last meal.

I realize it's made of flimsy material and I seemed to have put too much pressure on it when trying to unstick it.The top part that swivels tore about 1/3 way through like it was a piece of paper. It is also raised up a little from bending.

It's not a really big deal but I thought that if I took it off I could bend it down flat again.I felt a nut of some kind underneath the damper but how the heck do you hold to top from turning. The head of the metal piece holding the damper in place just has a round hole in it's center.

Now I'm thinking that the top piece locks in place so that you only have to unscrew the nut from below.I didn't mess with it yet because I was in the process of making dinner.

Anyone replace their damper or know how it's done?

I think this is the manual for your smoker. https://www.tractorsupply.com/static/sites/TSC/downloads/ProdContentPDFs/1013285_Man1.pdf

How about call 'em up and see if you can get a new air damper along with instructions on how to install? At a miniumum, they ought to be able to tell you how to remove the existing damper and put it back on.

Thanks! I have a different model although the air damper part # is the same.

I checked online for any possible written info and even YouTube for any video but came up empty.I can call MasterBuilt and get the damper and hopefully the install instructions but it's always nice to checkin with the members here as well.

Why not just drill it out and replace it with a bolt?.........BTW love my electric Masterbuilt smoker.....Have used it Lots!.......Last year I had to replace the chip holder and electric coil......running happily again!
