Help with Covid Vaccine, have you had yours??

The question in the OP is have you had yours?

My on topic answer would be, no not yet. I'm kind of in wait and see mode. As a result, I've not experienced any of the symptoms expressed by those who have received the vaccination, plus I'm not in a high risk category.

I haven't either. Not because I have any fear of it, but because I had COVID in January. I gave blood about a month ago and they automatically test your donation for antibodies. Sure enough, I got a positive antibody test.

So I'm in no big hurry. I'll let those who are go ahead of me because I figure I'm good to go at this point. I may still get it farther down the road when most everyone else who needs or really wants it has had it.

I have not had any of the shots, but I did have a cold (not a flu by my standards) mid-January. The results from my most recent blood donation include the antigen test and I have had covid. I'm not dead yet!

Antibody test

A local friend paid for an antibody test a few weeks after his second shot. He showed he had COVID 19 antibodies which he believes indicates he has had a mild case of COVID 19 at some time.

Anyone here have precise knowledge about the ramifications of his positive test?

I would hope he tested positive after 2 doses of the vaccine?

You should expect any antibody test "a few weeks after" the second shot to show positive. That's the whole point of the vaccine. It doesn't necessarily mean he's had the virus itself.

All of my coworkers in my unit have both shots, and one had the J&J single about a month ago. Glad we did. One other co-worker, a part-timer still in school, had both of his, then both of his parents came down with it last weekend. He's quarantined for another 10 days. No idea why his parents weren't vaccinated.

I had to pick my pain meds up at Albertsons this morning. I asked about the Covid shot and was able to get it. I get the 2nd one in a month.

Have one sibling convinced to get her shots. The other wants to come from out of state and stay here for several days. Refuses to get the vaccine as we should be safe since we've had ours.. there's no getting through to some people lol.Stay home ya knucklehead [emoji16]

Yep! Had my second shot last month (Pfizer). Had a sore arm for 2-3 days afterwards when I raised my arm but think that was due to the person who gave me the shot not the vaccine. No issues with the first shot.

Finished my second Moderna last Saturday. A little arm soreness was the only real side effect.

Wife and I got the second Pfizer yesterday. Arms a little sore, that was it. Son had his second Pfizer a couple weeks ago, and it had him feelin' pretty puny for the next day. Daughter gets her second next week.

I asked the nurse if it was this one or the first one that had the chip in it. She said it's a double blind study . . .

I never minded getting shots in the arm, but I have always hated the ones in the butt. Last one I had was about 14 years ago and it hurt for about 3 days afterwards. One time when I was a little kid, I was so upset about getting the shot, I clenched up and the nurse pulled the needle off the hypo itself and I remember how much it burned after she pulled the needle out.

Had strep a couple of years ago and was sick enough I couldn't swallow the pills at the ED. They gave me a zillion units of amoxicillin in the butt and I starting getting better within hours (except for my sore cheek).

Got my 2nd Moderna last Friday. Saturday was pretty well shot. Slept through most of the day. Finer than frog hair thereafter. My folks both had Moderna with zero affects. Wife and youngest son got Phizer with no issues.

Got the 2nd Pfizer on the 15th it knocked me down pretty good, 102 fever, felt like I had a hang over like the ship just pulled into Olongapo. Night sweats and my legs and feet got numb and were tingling. I was bummed but then found a website with post shot people talking about their experiences- what happened to me is rare- but not that rare.

I am a lucky dog I guess. lol

Feeling better now wife had both shots very minimal after effects for her- she is a tough cookie.

If you are female I would stay away from the J&J shot. It has killed several women with blood clots. The CDC stopped the J&J shot for a time but are going back to it now .What do they care it is not their mother or daughter.

I got the second Pfizer shot about a month ago. No ill effects except the sore arm each time that lasted a day. Saw what some folks went through at the hospital with respirators and the like. I'm not about to roll the dice on it! It's your decision but as the old knight told Indiana Jones "choose wisely"

Got my second Pfizer last Tuesday with no side effects arm didn't hurt like the first. I heard of a week or two waiting period to safe then I'm taking a few vacation days
