Help with M&P

I bought a bunch of guns from a lady who's husband died. In the bunch are two S&Ws. One is a 1924 M&P. Its in good condition with Nickel plate. The hammer and trigger are also nickel plated. I don't think they came from the factory with nickel plate on the trigger and or hammer. The grips are period after market grips. Frazier I think. bore is very good. I was told by some on other forums say its not collectible and its only worth 200 dollars. Thanks for any guidance.

Just my opinion but I'd say $250 tops. $200 is pretty close.

I've seen worse looking firearms on GB with asking prices of two or three times these amounts.

The stocks are Franzite. Pretty common in the '50s.

Yes, Franzite plastic grips were popular in the 50s and later. They were made to fit most popular handguns of the period. I bought several pair back then. One problem I discovered was that they tended to warp over time. They could be heated up over a stove burner to soften the plastic and straightened out. I believe I may still have somewhere a pair of them for a M1911.

I don't know the dollar value, but it looks like a better than average plating job. I would clean it, replace the shrunken Franzite, paint the sights, and shoot.

I have a 1924 M&P nickle from the factory. It shipped 9/1924.
