Here's why we call them "The Greatest Generation"...

The courage it took to stand up and NOT comply. I have a lot of respect for people like that. My Uncle was in a concentration camp, and lucky to survive.

This new generations only contributions seem to be having a relationship with their dam phones.

Thank you,

Can you imagine the courage it took to make stand like that.

I've been thinking about this story ever since I first learned of it yesterday morning...

Roddie Edmonds was born in 1919, making him only 25 or 26 at the time of this incident. He and his men were most likely tired, cold, hungry, and more than a little demoralized after having been captured. The Germans were not to be trifled with, and for him to stand there in those circumstances, unarmed, with a gun pointed at him, and then say something that was very likely to get him shot, right there and then...wow...just wow.

As Onomea replied, this story makes me proud to be an American... :)

What REALLY bothers me is future generations NEVER seem to learn from past History. When History starts to repeat itself, people are blind and in denial - I call it the Ostrich with his head in the sand syndrome.

Amazing story. I agree with Chief about history repeating itself. I blame most of this on liberal agendas, especially in schools. It seems they omit parts of history they don't like or agree with. I can't tell you how they swing history in some of my kid's homework assignments. It is sickening, especially when men like this did what they were asked to do. I tell my family,if we don't remember history,we are doomed to repeat it.
