HI
New to the whole gun thing...I was thinking about getting an MP in either .40 or .45 but really have no idea. I dont see much on the MP on this forum so maybe it will come down to cost on the MP or XD? Not many people seem to have an MP, what don't I know?? any help would be nice since most online or gun salesmen are either jerks to newbies or hardcore for ONE type (XD/glock/etc...)
I have money to spend but nobody seems to want to help me :<

98redrang, welcome from North Carolina. I and a lot of the members have M&Ps. Ask about them in the Lounge and your apt to get more answers.

Hi and welcome. Sorry you are having problems with dealers in your area. I am not to far from you, I guess you could almost say VERY East Bay, Sacramento. Send me an email (email address is in my profile) and I can help you with some good dealers in the Sacramento area.
From everything I have heard the M&P is a good choice although I have no expereience with it. The XD is also very nice. I carried one in .45 for about a year.

Thanks. Its not totally unexpected, I had a similar experience when buying my first mt bike. the 'pros' (i.e. kids working just for the gear discount) also had a bit of snobbery to novices. Of course you cant really use a bike to defend yourself in a shoot out, but I guess i'm just old fashioned when comes to customer help&respect. Car salesmen also disappoint me with there attitude and lack of knowledge, but that's another forum. I guess only hookers understand what good customer service is. :> THEY seem to keep our politicians returning.

Welcome from Texas 98redrang. Great forum, have fun, learn lots, share what you know.

First, I have recently qualified with my S&W M&P 45 ACP full sized. I love it. I used to carry a S&W 4506 (45 ACP) when on patrol but it was too heavy for plainclothes work when I was assigned to CID. Carried a Glock 21C for several years and had no problem with the gun but really wanted to carry a S&W again. When the M&P came out and I had a chance to get one at a pretty good price I jumped all over it. Have not shot the 40 caliber but believe it to be of equal quality. I'm just a big fan of the 45 ACP for duty work. Best of luck finding one you like.

Wally in Tracy carries ammo, but as of late the cupboard has been rather bare.
