Higher demand for .32 S&W Long ?

The LGS that stocks the Remington .32 S&W Long that I use told me that he has seen a dramatic increase in the demand for this ammo. He said he use to sell about a case of it every year and had already sold 6 or 7 cases of it in the past 6 months. My daughter and I both enjoy shooting .32 SW. Anyone else seen an increased interest in this cartridge ?

One of the reasons for this could be due to the introduction of the .327 Federal Magnum back in 2008. The guns that fire the .327 also handle the shorter .32 & .32 S&W Longs as well as the .32 H&R Magnum round.

I would say that about half of the shooting we do with our .327's are with .32 S&W Longs....

I order mine online from a seller that stocks .32 long in Remington, Winchester, Magtec, Federal, Fiocchi, and Sellier & Bellot with bullet choices of LRN, WC, SWC,and SJHP. Prices for a box of 50 run from a low of about $15 to a high of about $30. To me the fact that this variety is available attests to the increased popularity of the cartridge.

There are a lot of folks (me included) who really like the .32 long cartridge. That, along with the relatively small number of guns made, is why the K-32's, model 16's, and model 16-4's are so popular and command such a high price. I wouldn't be at all shocked to see S&W come out with a K frame revolver chambered for the new .327 Federal cartridge. The current J frame model 632 in .327 will also fire the .32 H&R magnum and the .32 S&W long.

You can reload those things for next to nothing. Anyone shooting very many at the crazy prices they get for them should consider it. I think my LGS wanted $33 for 50. What a joke.

I cast for and load and fire several thousand rounds of 32 S&W and Long every year. Many, many revolvers built and chambered for it over the years. I have Colt, S&W, Taurus and Charter Arms that take the old rounds. 32 is my favorite revolver caliber, regardless of whichever chambering.

The I frame 32 longs are a hoot to shoot. They are really small compared to a K frame, and seem designed around the 32 round. Very accurate, and cheap to shoot for reloaders.

I always thought a lever gun in 32 long would be perfect for squirrels and rabbits.
