Highjacking a discussion

Geez, this is interesting. I don't post many photos but had no idea something like that might be offensive. I just assumed this place was more or less a free for all when it came to guns, pictures, and yakking about them, and never dreamed someone could be injured by something so mundane. I will have to watch myself more closely!

Ok, I confess, I'm the worst hi-jacker on the forum.

I always say I won't do it again or just this one time...

But, it's a sickness I tell you.

A member posts a pic of his .44spl and I get all excited and

whip mine out before I can think about it being rude

or thoughtless. Well shame on me and I'll skip to my loo...

Su Amigo,
Dave

Damn, some folks here need to lighten up a bit.

I remember I started a thread once on a new smoker I got, pics and all. Pretty soon everyone was posting pics of their smokers and the thing went on forever. I think maybe there were one or two replies posted directly about mine.

Hey, I learned a lot and it was fun!:)

Everyone loves pictures, so I don't think it would be rude to add one of your own. Although I think I would wait for a bit, so the original poster could get his/her praises and pats on the back. I mean, I posted a picture of a grill, and Dave posted a picture of his dance hall girl grips that he likes to fondle (looked like some of the "high spots" were worn). Did I get upset? Nope. I invited him over for a beer and BBQ! ;)

I find it completely rude!

I guess I never realized that some would take offense at someone else posting a photo in their thread, especially if it is the same basic model. It might be a good idea for the "intruder" to hold off for a day or two before posting so the OP can savor his moment of glory.

The member you quoted indicated in a subsequent post that he was just funnin'....

Now That There Boys is Southern Hospitality at it's finest.
I hear there's some good BBQ Rib joints in the Music City.

Many Thanks,

Hi:
Attempting to be correct:
Is it considered ok to post photos of your particular firearms on another Forum Member's Discussion about the same Models you have?
Thank you,
Jimmy

ONLY IF........the follow on post is not a "one upmanship" to say "well, yeah, but mine is better". If it is done because input was invited yes. But to use the O-P as a stepping stone...............not even a little bit!

When I post pix of my fish, hogs or deer I readily welcome additional pix of deer or whatever. Just don't run your mouth about my small Florida deer while you're straddle the back of a Milk River deer or a "High Fence" deer out of TX! ;-)

 WHAT ? ! ? !

 I didn't know.......

:o I thought everybody was perfectly happy here all the time......

:( gee........

 another dream busted......

Come on Lee, you're the big guy behind the scenes in charge of the forum, change the software so everyone's happy all the time! We all know you can do it, you're the "admin"! :D

I posted a picture once, that I set up, and have seen copied many times since. It was a picture of every handgun I had at the time in a circle with an XD in the middle. I called it "Guns in The Round".

In that very post, others took some called their "Wheel" or a "Clock". I've seen pictures like that in this and other forums since. I think it a form of flattery!

Posting pics in the OP's thread is perfectly normal. Showing S&W fans what we got. That's what it's all about. Right? rags

Let's see, how do I put this and still avoid kiss'n up the big dog  ?

THAT...was ahhhh, uhmmm well...Really Funny :D:D:D

Rags...Stop by the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody, they've got a couple, and then some, 100+ year old factory circular firearm displays and they were done-up wayyy before Al Gore invented the internet ;).

Still having dial-up, I know I haven't offended anyone yet, with pics that is, but when I evolve into the 20th. century and get whatever everyone else uses, I hereby promise to wait the appropriate time before posted pics of my prettier, fancier or just plain better version that I got for a cheaper price ;):):D, ok?

I consider posting pictures of one's firearms on somebody else's thread (unless that's the purpose of the thread) to be pretentious and a waste of band width. It's no more than an ostentatious display of one's collection and one's photographic skills. Internet bragging.

But they're all the same picture. Same composition. Same light box. Same guns.

Now, if they want to show truly unique firearms that we all haven't seen a thousand times, that would be different.

Otherwise, it's a major yawn.
