Hot weather driving stupidity. LONG rant

Ya, well what gets me is some guy from Nevada comes to Montana and just because there is spots of ice and a few inches of snow on a perfectly good 2 lane road they back up traffic by putting along at 60mph. If you can't drive your car park it and walk.

Actually, if every one took a chill pill, relaxed and enjoyed to drive instead of sweating out every second on the road, there would be less accidents and less stress related heart problems. Your trip took an extra 5 or 10 minutes. You could have enjoyed some music on the radio with the air conditioner cranking or you could chose to spend it boiling inside. RELAX. If nobody is dying its all good.

When the radiator fan on my Thomas C2 kicks in--it's belt-driven, not an electric like lesser vehicles--it feels like I've lost 20% of my engine power. And it kicks in every time I have to stop, so it behooves me to keep the beast rolling by braking early for red lights and letting it ease along at 15.

And then some dumb bleepity-blank-blank-bleep shoots around me and screeches to a halt at the red. So much for that plan.

When they don't do that, I can manage my speed well-enough to beat cars, even if they break the speed limit, since they stop at every light and I never get below 15-20.

Lesson: for the love of Christ, stop cutting in front of big heavy trucks/buses/etc that are slow-rolling to a red light. Do what we do, you'll get there faster. I'm behind the wheel 30 hours a week, and have been driving that exact route five days a week for five ******n months, I know what I'm doing.

"I said tuck and roll, dammit!"

In all seriousness, I do a ton of driving and very few pick-ups or drops, as I drive primarily special ed. The particular road I'm thinking of is a four-lane non-divided highway ("County Road" my biscuits) with a 45mph speed limit. Pretty much everyone does 55, I don't speed because I don't suck and also the bus GPS generates a speed report, and yes, we do have stops on that particular road. I've sub'd runs with those stops, and it's not that bad. I've got stops that are way worse, in 30 and 35mph zones.

Crossing students is officially prohibited on that road--one of only two like that, although others are "unofficially" prohibited--and I think if you break that rule they skip the firing and just shoot you.
