I've posted this 686+ Mtn. Gun before - but I do love this revolver. It has a very smooth trigger and I can shoot it as well as any S&W I own.

Regards, Jerry

feralmerril, other than not having Mountain Gun on the barrel (neither does the 629-2 Mountain Revolver) I don't see any difference

The mod 24 and the mod 624 4"ers are on my list!

Mickey D, 625 in 45 Colt no lock is the next on my list. I hope to find one as nice as yours

Feralmerril, The name? Very nice sixgun. Are those real Ivorys? The .44 Special is one of my favorites! Frank

The MGs are probably the best all-around gun S&W ever made..

My old standby 625-6 45 Colt. With night sights and Speer Gold Dot 250's it's a good one!

Plotman & mickey. No thats faux ivory from eagles. Wish I had paid extra for the medelians now. Micky, it does have the tapered burl.

I just have one, this 29-8. I put a regular 29 front sight on it, along with a Millett w/o rear. Also some Eagle "Heritage" grips. I think it makes a nice package.

I only got two 41 magnum Mountain guns.
dc, nice guns...did you have the RR installed on the one on the right, or did it come that way? I'm thinking about having WO RR added to my 625-6 MG, thanks...

I ordered the Red Ramp and White Outline from S&W back when they still offered the RR. I had to drill the pin hole for the front blade and completely replace the rear windage adjustment screw along with the WO, but it was well worth the effort. You can still get the WO, but not the RR. I am now looking for a gunsmith to do the RR on the left one that would look factory.

My two .45 Colt 625MGs - top, my first-ever S&W, an '01 production -7 bought new by my wife for me 8/02. Bottom - a -6 I traded for several years ago.

And, apologies to the squeamish, my beloved 629MG, bought new 11/02, after it's worst-ever day at the range. Totally my fault, too. S&W sold me a standard 4" 629 for a song - and returned the one still-useful part - the barrel.

I could still get sob over that! I was lucky - no, blessed.

Anyone have a complete list of Mountain Gun
Models, dashs, dates, etc or a source that I can accsess?
For the life of me I can't find the one I had or remember where I got it.

Thanks

Here's a couple of pics of my 686 Mountain Gun. I no longer have two though, sold one of em', but I'll be hanging on to the other!

dc, thanks for the info. There is a gunsmith in Raleigh NC that does the RR inserts, think I will give him a try.

Stainz, glad you were not hurt, sorry the S&W was!
