Cold wet Spring followed by a hot dry summer and now a hot wet fall ..
Vine crops had a lot of powdery mildew because of the damp spring soil and most died off early ..
Tomato's off to a good start then hit by cold wet weather were stunted in late May then when they should have been flourishing ..high 90's summer heat caused bloom drop reducing yield in half to a third of normal .. 2nd year tomato's have been below normal .. some peoples pea's did good while others didn't .. when you planted made the difference .. broccoli heads were small but solid .. not many side shoots this year .. yield 2/3 of last year ..
sweet corn was above normal in size of the ears and was the best in 5 years in my area .. green beans also did average to above .. bumper crop of strawberries in the spring ..
field corn yield in the area are near record yields .. soy beans look to be above normal to record yields also .. elevators will soon be over flowing in corn .. sadly prices will be so low some farmers won't break even ..
biggest problems were the late frost got all my apples
cold wet spring made it difficult to plant at the proper times
hot dry summer with lack of rain .. we were over 6 inches behind at one point after being 4 inches ahead .. and now we have had over 7 inches of rain these past 2 weeks .. water still standing in some fields .. storms blew some corn stalks down making harvesting more difficult reducing yield ..
