How do you buy guns???

I've missed several good deals because I wanted to research. A 3" M66 leaps to mind. I didn't know what I was looking at. Went back to get it.... gone. :( There are others.

As you gain knowlege you'll be better prepared to pounce on that smokin' deal when it comes along. You'll also be better able to recognize when you should just walk away.

Thanks!!!
Knowlege is not the problem. I have been studying, and buying for 35 years. 45 years if you count the first gun I bought at a Western Auto at 12 years old. So I know a good deal when I see it. My problem is not buy now. I will have the cash in my pocket, and think let's sleep on it. I will go home an research. I will see what ones are selling for etc..

I go to get it the next day, and it is already sold.
These are usually used guns, that I have never shot before.

I guess, I just need to let go. Buy it and if I don't like, it sell or trade. Old Dog learning new tricks!!!
Just wondered what others did in this situation???

"You'll also be better able to recognize when you should just walk away."
LOL
I need the ability: When I know it's a deal, to not run away, then walk back.

I have purchased 7 guns in the last four months. 1 new one at a local gun show, 1 local FTF through a forum, and 5 via GB or forums delivered through a FFL. It costs me $30 to have a gun received at my FFL, but since I am not paying tax I figure that's a wash on a $500 gun. I feel like my FTF deals have been the best value, plus it's nice to be able to handle what you are about to buy.

You might want to check with an Alaskan Guide before you spend your money.
Most will recommend a 30 cal magnum in SS with a composite stock for moose. It's cold and WET that time of year....

It would be a camp gun/back-up, I'd be Bowhunting with a resident. Valid point about the S & S composite stock, fortunately Marlin offers that too.

Most outfitters & guides and a few res. hunters have told me .45-70 is min. for big bears. When bow hunting Elk in Co, & Caribou in Quebec in Black Bear country I felt comfortable with my 1894 in .44 mag.
