How do you shave?

Walgreens has a razor with 6 blades at 1/4 of the price of the Fusion. I remember reading somewhere that Gillette was anti-gun!

I use Schick Xtreme3 razors and they last quite a while. I really liked the Fusion, but I couldn't hack the price. The Xtreme3 won't give as comfortable a shave as the Fusion but they are more reasonably priced and don't really give you a bad shave.

I use shaving soap a mug and brush.

I shave while still dripping wet from the shower. I shave down, relather and shave "up". I get a very close shave and only have to be careful around my adam's apple.

After I shave I step back into the shower and wash the shaving soap off.

You read correctly. I've had a grudge against Gillette/Papermate since they were a sponsor of The Guns of Autumn.

And people say I don't know how to hold a grudge.

I usually shave in the shower, too, and what I do is to shave my entire face by "feel" stopping short of my sideburns (I don't have a mustache.) Then when I get out of the shower, I just touch up the area at my sideburns while looking in the mirror.

Get a mirror that sticks onto the wall in the shower! I shave in the shower every morning with a disposable BIC just after washing my hair. I use Barbasol or whatever shave cream is on sale. The BIC usually lasts about 10 days. The hot water and shampoo help soften the wiskers. I have been doing that for about 15-20 years now. When traveling I usually use a battery powered Braun shaver sometimes a Bic razor over the bath sink.

I shave while in the shower with a disposable..............thats why my mustache and side burns are always crooked.

I have neither sideburns nor mustache (any more), so shaving in the shower works for me.

I got rid of the mustache a few years ago. My wife asked me if she should color her hair while she was going on job interviews. "Sure, I said". Then for a reason I can't fathom I asked her, "Should I shave my mustache?".

"You could do that.", came the answer. Since we've been married for several years I immediately translated that to "Yes, get rid of that awful thing."

After I shaved it off and the comments started coming in, I realized I had had that for so long that there were maybe 10 people still on the planet who had ever seen me without one. That did not include my adult children.

Back to razors. At work I used to keep some of the one use disposables, BIC I think. One day I was running late coming from a bike detail and I decided to shower before work. I rummaged in my shaving kit and realized I had no razors left. I went out to the ambulance and grabbed a "prep razor".

It did the job, but I DO NOT recommend using that type of razor on your face. Not even a little bit. It's designed for a close shave, but not a close shave on your face.

I use the Gillette Fusion, Gillette Foamy cream lots of hot water. Darn blades are way over priced. It would be fine with me to never shave again but the better half says no way!

Other than for about 5 or 6 years in my 20's when I used a Gillette Trac ll and canned goop, I have been using a plain old Double Edge Razor (Gillette Tech) and a Shaving Brush with a Mug containing a puck of soap. I buy blades in packs that cost around $12 to $14 bucks for 100 Double Edge Blades. Each blade delivers a great shave and they last around 4 - 5 shaves, so it costs me about $10 bucks a year for blades and maybe $20 - $25 bucks a year for the soap depending on which brand I use. I currently find that the best soap is Col. I. Conk.

I haven't shaved in over 30 years. I get a beard trim with my haircut which doesn't come very often.

Are you on a Discovery TV program? Sounds like you'd qualify for most these days.

I have used the Gillette Sensor for years and am very satisfied. I use Banana Boat Aloe Gel as a lubricant and after shave.

I had one for a while, but didn't really care for it...it was really small and I had a hard time seeing some areas of my face. I don't have a problem shaving by "feel" other than right at my sideburns, and I just finish those off when I get out of the shower.

I've tried the brush/soap type lather, and I do get a smooth shave, but usually I'm in too big a hurry, which sounds funny since I am retired, so maybe it would be more accurate to say I am too impatient. I get a good shave with canned foam, and I found some at Wal-Mart (Equate brand) that works very well, and is very inexpensive.

I use an Edwin Jagger DE89L. Astra blades made in Russia by Gillete, $15.00 a hundred. One blade lasts about a week. Thats almost two years of shaving once a day for $15.00 worth of blades. Cake soap in the shaving section at WalMart is about $1.50. The razor was around $40.00 and I use an omega silver badger brush, around $45.00. Got tired of paying outlandish prices for the new fangled blades. Initial cost was a bit much but I get great shaves and only buy blades every two years.

I have been shaving with a mug and brush for 40 years now. My old badger bristle brush gave up the ghost a few years ago, the boar's bristle
I have been using isn't bad, will get another badger bristle one "someday". Use Williams cake soap mostly, recently discovered Van der Hagen soap, that is EXCELLENT! Use CVS store brand blades, work fine, used to prefer Wilkinson Sword, no longer available. Had to use foam while my power was out in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy-BRRR!! I wash my face with hot water and soap, then apply the lather, give it least 90 seconds set up.

I used to be a razor guy, Now, I've got a Norelco (spelling?) electric shaver that is designed to go right into the shower. It works good on a dry face but cuts closer when your beard is wet. Replacement blades cost about $30 but that's only every 6-8 months. I do like the simplicity of not needign shaving cream, razor blades, bandages etc....

I shaved for a number of years with a straight razor but it is time consuming keeping it sharp.
Since I retired, I keep a short beard which I trim about every three days with an electric clipper and a 1/16 comb. Wife likes it and I do also.

I also got tired of the insane prices of the cartradge blades. Aeveral years ago I changed to a double blade safety razor. Best shave ever, close and no blood. You can get everything you need from clasicshaving.com. They have all the things you need at good prices. I like the feather blades made in Japan, super sharp. Also, a second vote for the Col Conk soaps. It makes shaving less of a chore. David

Yes. A month or two ago, a guy in the supermarket asked me if I was on Duck Dynasty. He was serious. I didn't even know what it was. He said I looked like Cy or Si or somebody. I looked him up on YouTube, and I could easily see how he might think that.

I've been shaving my head for about ten years. I finally figured out the easiest way is with a Norelco every couple days. I shaved my full beard down to a goaty a few years ago, and I'm in the process of letting it grow out full again. I gave up on blade razors a long time ago.

I used to use Gillette but then decided to try something new and switched for double edge and using those for couple years now. It gives cleaner shave and much much cheaper. And of course thinking of Gillette I can't help but smile, cause article on Onion always pops up in my head (you can google "onion 5 blades", should pop right up - warning lots of foul language )
