The one good thing in North Carolina is once you have your CCW you don't have to apply for purchase permits. It saves you the $8.00 each time you want one.

A small WA. town police station midway between Seattle and Tacoma, 45 minutes out the door. It would have been shorter but the officer liked to B.S. a lot, a very Andy of Mayberry feeling.

2-3 weeks from application to receipt if I remember correctly.

My first CHL in Ohio took less then 24 hours. Just renewed and it was about 10 minutes.

I have a relative residing here in Saratoga County, went in mid October 2013 for his application.
They gave him the application packet and told him he had an appointment in December for his prints & picture and to return the packet.
Days later, he got a call that they had a cancellation if he could get in with his completed packet for submission and get his prints scanned. TCO. Then he was told to call the approved instructor for his 8 hour required class - no openings until July/August 2014! Checked a few times with them and they had cancellations in an out of town class that was approved in March 2014, TCO.
Permit was in today's mail - marked Restricted - Hunting / Target.
He considers himself lucky getting it in 5 and 1/2 months!

When I got my CCW way back when it took about 10-15 minutes (stopped in to see the sheriff). Last year I went with my daughter to get hers. Things have really changed over the years. The application, photo id, writing the check..........must have taken 25-30 minutes. I guess that's progress.

58 days for Utah non-resident, 59 days for Illinois resident. They arrived April 1st and 2nd.

In Craven County, North Carolina, it took 70 days. I have since renewed the permit; that took 32 days.

Shall issue state here in Idaho. About thirty days from application to issue. Approval through each counties sheriff, so your results may vary.
We also now have an "enhanced CCW" that works in a few more states, and also has a requirement of shooting 90 rounds with a training officer every time you apply. That includes a renew.
I have not applied for that because everything I might aim at is in Idaho, and it only takes two shots to drop whatever I am targeting.
And/or, it's another ploy to get another round of permit money for the county.
I carry concealed in Oregon just because I visit several times a year, and I forget that they are back wards. I carry concealed in Oregon illegally to protect myself and my family.
Let's just make the shall issue Law in all 50 States the same. If you can own a firearm, then you should be able to carry it where ever you choose. Simple.
Track the Felons better, I say.
Also, take the guns away from those with State Mental Health issues, and those that have a record of domestic abuse. Anyone that hits the radar, both civilian and Military, should be outed.
This really needs to be a national issue. The privilege of ownership and the way we carry firearms should never be regulated by a state or local entity.
Spread the word.

Sometimes I hate my wife, always playing tricks on me! Got mine in today but she initially said that I got denied through text. So I called to find out more info and she couldn't keep up the lie long enough. =)
So in Fairfax VA it took 37 days from the day I dropped off my application to the courts. 8 days earlier then the allotted 45 days they say it can take. I'm a happy camper!
Now just to wait on my Incog holster which by the looks of things, I won't get till Summer maybe? I ordered it on the 7th of March. 3 days after putting in my application for the CHP.
Been hearing a lot of people complaining about going into their 10-13 week waiting.

I got my first Concealed Weapons Permit in 1971 after returning from Scenic SE Asia. In PA they are issued by County Sheriffs office. Same day minutes after I plunked down the .50 cents and was given the paper. It was Annual then and went up to a whopping dollar a couple years later.
Just reapplied, no such thing as renew, in my current County for my five year permit last August. $35.00 as I remember. New Sheriff as of Jan. 1 has upped the ante
to $150.00 for five years. They do an instant background check, take photo, laminate permit and I'm out the door in @20 min.

My PA license, about 15 minutes. My Utah and Arizona ones took about 3 months.

Just received mine today! It took exactly two months to process the application. Here in Florida they have 90 days to issue it.
Update:
Jan 7 applied ..... April 17 approved.
The state was allowed by statute until May 7th on mine.
I applied in Illinois January 5 without fingerprints. Mine came in the mail today, April 17. Illinois said 120 days and this was about 3 weeks less. I can't fault that. Looks like Illinois State Police got the job done. Fingerprints might have shortened the process by 30 days.

The sheriff cannot up the ante, he is required by PA state law to charge a certain amount.
Couple of excerpts of PA law:
I believe that $5 paragraph has expired. While converting to the plastic photo ID system the applicants were charged an extra $5 to pay for the equipment in each county and it had a 5 year expiration date.
And yep, my application took 10 minutes and another 10 just chatting with the sheriff. It was lunch time, he was the only person in the office, and he wasn't very busy. Rural has its rewards...

Got mine 20 years ago in Oregon - took about 45 days at that time. Added the Washington last year since I go there regularly and Oregon's isn't recognized there - as I recall it took close to 2 months.
