How long have you carried the same EDC pocket knife?

In the pocket? Victorinox Spartan, about five years. Replaced another of the same model. I have a couple of spares, if needed, and sometimes rotate them, not really often.

In a belt pouch: Gerber Applegate-Fairbairn, the large one, usually. Mainly at home, as its image may upset a cop if I'm ever checked. In public, a Benchmade Model 710. Had the A-F maybe 15 years, the Benchmade about ten.

Sometimes, I carry something different if mood suits. But mostly, those are the EDC choices.

I have a couple of Spyderco Delica 4 FFG, purchased a few months apart. I've been carrying one or the other for about 4-1/2 years.

For 15 years or more I have carried a Syderco three inch blade. I have dumped at least four at airports. Not terribly expensive but one hand operated and sharp. Sometimes it is all you have. Better to carry a quality knife you can replace than a knife you are attached to. The only time I had to respond to a potential terrorist act was on a plane from Sarajevo to Istanbul and it was with four other men stopping a guy from going to the cockpit. I was armed with a government fine point pin. He decided discretion was the better point of valor. He was arrested in Istanbul. May you never be in a situation like that.

Coincidentally, for the last few days I've carried the first knife that I bought myself, a Buck 301 Stockman. I bought it about 1969 with money from my paper route. It has spent more days in my pocket than any other but was in storage for quite a while. Usually I have a Peanut in my pocket and something larger in a belt pouch or a coat pocket. I like old school classic slip joints. Logically a knife as small as a Peanut would have two full length blades because their secondary blades are not good for much more than opening envelopes. Despite owning such knives a Peanut keeps slipping back into my pocket. They're true classics.

I don't really know. I know I had the Swiss Army Knife I carry now, when my wife got sick about nine years ago, because I lost the toothpick and ordered some more online while I was at home caring for her. I ordered a half dozen picks and tweezers each at the time. Wouldn't you know, I haven't lost one of either since?

I've also got a no name (that I remember anyway) assisted folder that I keep in my back pocket that I've had almost as long.

Not really a knife, per say, but-
I carry a "Home-Depot" type folding razor blade. I've had this one for about ten years, and a similar one for about ten before that. The first one fell into a place I was not willing to go to retrieve it!
They're inexpensive, and light and thin. Probably not much of a fighting blade, but if I'm ever attacked by cardboard boxes, I'll be set.

Victorinox Automotive for 50 years this year. Carried and used every day of my 30 year career as a Mercedes-Benz mechanic/shop owner. The Voyager was the dress version of the work knife, on and off about the same length of time. They are now both retired, as I am, taking a long rest.

A Wenger Swiss Army Traveler since the mid 70's. Sent it back in the 90's when the scissors broke, got a brand new one in return. It's in my Levis pocket, at the ready.

I've carried this little carbon steel Tidioute Conductor for five full years now. The gold color has now matured into a beautiful medium brown. Once I forced a curing patina on the blades, I don't really have any kind of rust problems.

I don't carry big knives. This little beauty is always with me and pretty much disappears in my pocket. As adept at opening packages and slicing an apple as it is removing an errant thread from a beautiful woman's blouse, I figure this great American made knife will hold up the rest of my days.

The Tidioute brand is one of several made in Pennsylvania by Great Eastern Cutlery. When I purchased this shortly after this model was released, all materials and labor were American. I haven't kept up with the company, so I have no idea what the current policy is. I am very pleased with mine.

I generally carry a pocket knife ...

... until I lose it. That's ok, because I have found many more knives, mostly on a streambank, than I have lost during my life. Of course, most of those knives have been lost, too! I recently decided to honor my Dad by carrying his Schrade Old Timer instead of letting it sit on the shelf where it has been for 25 years or so. Imagine my dismay when I recently reached in my pocket and found ... nothing.

This was followed by an hour of sifting through pine needles and saw dust where I had been operating the chain saw. All to no avail. I eventually became very discouraged, used many perfectly appropriate words, and gave up. Later, I went to retrieve my work clothes from the washer ... and guess what I found! Life is good. And, yes, after some thought, I will continue to carry it.
