How many always carry the same gun?

What do we carry?

A Charter Arms DAO 38+p only. It's in my pants pocket in an Uncle Mikes #3 pocket holster when the weather is warm. When it's cold, it's in my jacket pocket. My version of Keep it simple, stupid.

Sig 226 .357sig OWB and S&W 340PD in my pocket. Always the same

Always carry a 642 in my weak, read left, front pocket. If I am wearing shorts, two speedloaders go into my right cargo pocket, otherwise I have a speedstrip holder on either side of my belt buckle.

Depending on what I'm doing or where I'm going, I'll add either an H&K USP Compact in .40 S&W (DAO don't remember the variant number) in an IWB at 4:00 or my newly broken in Kimber Ultra Carry in the same position. I use the Galco Summer Comfort model for both pistols. I carry two spare magazines when I tote the shell chuckers, both in an OWB pouch, weak side.

armsmaster270, I like your setup very much. I have been entertaining the idea of getting a 340 with lasergrips to have a second j-frame around, and I like the way yours looks with the compact grips. Light and effective.

I generaly carry the same gun 99.9% of the time. I also shoot IDPA and some IPSC with it.
At the range I generally shoot at least 10 rounds from my carry weapon and then go on to test and shoot anything else I am working on at the moment. Before I leave in sunset conditions, sometimes with very little light I run thru a short CQC stage set up earlier with my carry weapon again.

Practice, Practice, & Practice.

99% of the time it's my taurus in 45acp with 2 extra 10 shot mags. when i'm going to be dressed up, it's my 500 magnum in a ross belt slide with 10 extra rounds on my weak (left) side

My 442 is always on me, provided I'm not toting another firearm when not at work, I work in a disarmed victim zone, unfortunately. The gun stays on me 'till bedtime, then it goes in the pistol safe. I keep a Shure Fire tactical flashlight handy, too.

I carry 2 speed strips in an Altoids tin, works for me.

99.9% of the time I carry my Ed Brown. The rest of the time I carry my 642, although when my new holster gets here I plan to carry my 24-3 some this winter.

I used to carry a snubbie s&w 66 for a while but have since switched to an m&p 40c for about two years now. The change was more about the number of rounds loaded rather than the type of gun. I don't usually carry a reloader or spare mags. I feel that a 10 rd mag is adequate if only for emergency purposes. I guess I can say I carry the same CCW 100% of the time.

MrHockey: with 357 ammo I would prefer the larger CT J frame grips.
This is what I have to chose from at one time or another in the last 40 years I have carried the 1911, Mod 15,19 Sigma40 and Sig220

It's not always the same gun, but it's always a revolver. If I ever have to use the thing, I don't want to have to think about what I'm carrying. 99.9% of the time it's a Colt DS-II in the summer, and a 3" S&W 65 in the winter.

I'm down to four handguns that I will carry (not all at one time). My belt gun (on duty) is a Les Baer Thunder Ranch 1911 .45 ACP. My off duty is a Kimber Ultra CDP II .45 ACP 3", my always BUG is an ankle holstered Glock Model 27 .40 with a laser sight. My optional BUG is a S & W Model 642 .38 special in either a ankle holster or a pocket carry holster. I shoot all four very well and feel well armed with the .40 or .45's...

Not the same gun, but usually the same manual of arms. I rotate based on need, between Glocks of various sizes and calibers.

Even the bug has the same moa, a Kel-tec .32 that will be replaced by a Ruger LCP in the near future.

For me, it depends on where I'm going and the time of the year. I choose between a Seecamp, S&W 3913, or my old reliable Model 60 J-frame.

Almost always carry a 1911 variant (Wilson Combat CQB Compact). Very rarely substituted with a M&P 40c or DAO SP-101.

I am fortunate in that I have several that I choose from depending on where I'm at or mode of dress. As for my wheelies, I chose from my S&W 642 or Ruger Speed Six. As for semi's, I go with either a Glock 23 or Sig P-6.

Mdl 37, since 1954.
Also, now, a Colt Officers LW 45. since 1989.
And, a Keltec P11, most times, since 1997.
Always the 37. Never without it, ever!

Agree to some extent with original post. You ought to be intrinsicaly familiar with your carry weapon. I use my 5906tsw during cold winter months when I am layerd with clothing and outside; and my 3913tsw IWB carry for most other times. Both are from the same generation of S&W but of different size. The trigger pulls are about the same for me and both are in 9mm.
