How many is too many???

The want list will never get shorter until some other machine gets under your skin. You need a goal, I've always liked at least one for every year of your age. "At least."

Expressed in my best "Erkel" imitation. "Did I say that?":o

To IceCreamMan, Welcome to the forum, and if you have to ask your question, it's already too late.;)

When you have to convince your spouse you have to build a new house where you can design your "gun Room" in order to have enough room to hold all the guns. Then plan to build it twice as big as you first decided to.

The difference between men and boys are their toys, the one who dies with the most toys wins. So keep buyin.

IceCream your original post indicates financial sensitivity. Your various financial investments have possibly dimenished in networth :( the past month, unless you bought gold. Now, how much did the value of your firearms decrease? :D

Now go forth and find just ONE more :) .

I've told my daughters their inheritance isn't just protected by Smith & Wessons, it IS Smith & Wessons. You can't take a T-Bill out and have fun with it.

"Too Many"? Puh-lease... no such thing!

As long as your number of toys exceeds your chronological age then you are doing fine... anything past that is gravy, baby!! :D I've helped my boy get started and given him one every year since he was born... whether he keeps it up after I stop that is up to him. I still haven't decided if I'm going to stop when he turns 18 or 21... but I have another year to decide! ;)

How many is to many when your safe wouldend close properly. After that when the room to place the safe's is to small. I don't know where to put the safe's any more. (still I considre my collection not as to many and looking for a solution)

to own too many S&W revolvers = more than there are stars in the sky.

We all suffer from this malady, from time to time...It's aliken to an amores.
The desire often exceeds the want, need or finances.

Often I have yielded to the spell casted by some N frame, her beauty undeniable.
Oh, 'er delicate lines, so smooth and cool to the touch.

On baited breath I whisper, "Darling ya can't be first...But ya could be the next!" :D;)

Su Amigo,
Dave

I absolutely love this post...Thanks keith44spl. I think it is some sort of spell I'm under. Nothing keeps me awake like the 5 screw...

Seems that this is my progression....
I like Smith & Wesson revolvers
Wow, I like this particular model Smith & Wesson revolver
Now that I have this Smith & Wesson revolver, I can probably find another just like it in better condition...
While I search, I should probably get this model instead...

28,371 That would be too many for me. 28,370 would be just perfect. The problem is the ammo. I try to have 1,000+ rounds for each firearm I own. You do the math.

I know my question is ridiculous but how many is too many?? I know I'm not alone here... Does the want list ever get shorter?

You're a comedian, right? C'mon. What red-blooded, revolver-lovin' American has ever owned enough wheelguns? Really. Seriously. Can't be done chief.

I would just like to say; you still have a business to run. It's nice to have a collection but not at the expense of your business. It's great to combine your love of guns and make it a business but remember creditors won't take guns over cash.

There is no such thing as too many guns of any kind and they have value beyond gold or silver IE feed protect or take what you want in times of trouble.

The first cosideration is your marital status. If you are single, there is no such thing as too many. If you are married, the problem is not the maximum, it is the minimum. You have to have at least enough so that if the spouse looks at your collection, she cannot tell how many you have, and whether there are more than last time. (There will be.)

I managed to keep things under control for years, seldom exceeding fifty, but did that by cleverly rotating the stock, buying high and selling low. For the last four years, I have managed to eliminate most of the lesser brands (Winchesters, Colts, etc.) and concentrated on S&W and Savage 99's. The problem is, I find that there is no end of delightful variation for both, and the fifty gun limit is constantly in danger.

when your collection numbers five figures, then we can talk.

One pf my primary credos is "a man can never have too many tools or too many guns." Live by that rule and you will find happiness and contentment.

I know my question is ridiculous but how many is too many??QUOTE]

I think a better question is; Why can't I ever get enough?

And, Welcome! By finding your way here, you'll never find the answer to either but will have a ton of fun trying.

know the difference between a gun dealer and a dope dealer is ?

Gun dealer doesnt give you the 1st one free.

The term "too many guns" is exactly the term "too much cash". No such animal. With guns, though, you can control your needs, at least to some extent. Focusing on a particular model will help (I like Nframes, particularly of the .38/.357 variety). Good luck!
