How many mags do you buy for your pistols?

Duh! I know enough to put a group of rounds like that in a spot I know it's safe - like straight down if nothing else is available. Where I'm located there is pretty much always a safe direction to shoot. I live a long way from anything like a town. Plus if I figure my life is on the line I will do what I need to do. I'd rather try to scare off attackers if possible. There are plenty of hillsides where I live to fire off a few rounds without worry of what they will hit.

Warning shots are not wise and can be illegal in many areas. You talk like you plan to use suppression fire, as if you were in a military fire fight. I can assure you, that any LEOs your gunfire attracts will be focused on stopping you.

And how exactly does a person "talk like" he's going to do something he never said he was going to do? I must have missed out on that talent somehow. I tend to listen to what I actually hear and not read my own prejudices into the comment.

I thought I made it clear that I know "warning shots" are illegal. And how exactly is it that a cop will know I'm the one firing a lot of rounds when they arrive on the scene?

You make a lot of assumptions about things. You might want to work on that. I'm trying to be polite here but I'm not too keen on someone giving me advice on something I didn't ask about and that I have already addressed in this thread. You remind me of the LEO's who asked me 500 times if I knew the victim of an armed robbery because I was the sole witness and they figured we must be in on it together. "No" just didn't sink in with them. With you my having said I know the laws doesn't seem to have registered. Please try to take my word when I say something and stop thinking you can talk down to me. Read the posts. I answered every concern you had before you posted. I shouldn't have to do it twice. Clearly you do not know what I know and you shouldn't assume you do. How would they know? Right away they wouldn't and anyone with a gun in hand is a suspect until ruled out. But there is brass and there is gun powder residue.

A lot of the reason I carry so many mags is I figure anyone with a working brain is going to back off if I fire 15 rounds really quick and then fire another 10.

I generally carry one in the gun, and two more on the opposite side. The only time I'm less is when I'm carrying my 380, and if I'm carrying it, I'm carrying it because I can't carry anything bigger. My carry gun I actually only have three magazines, and haven't needed spares yet. 1911 I have a few spares, and my revolver I keep a couple of speed loaders. My HK Mark 23 I have the two that came with it, because they're pricey, and it's just a range gun. My other HK though, I bought the mags used, as a set of five, before I had even bought the gun, but had decided it's what I wanted. Then I ended up buying the gun with three mags. So for that one I have eight. The gun belt for my single action has thirty cartridge loops, if that counts.

You figure the local cops read my post and know who I am do you mom? You don't know me. You don't know where I live. You just make a lot of assumptions.

I'll give you a primer then I'm going to ignore everything you say. Where I live there isn't 1 cop out of 100 that would fault me for trying to protect my family. And if the cops did the judges wouldn't. I KNOW this for a fact. State cops used to tell me to carry a gun "because everyone else has one" long before the CCW laws. I had a wreck. My loaded pistol and a mag ended up laying in the middle of the road. The cops had no choice but to write me a summons because a kid found the stuff and his parents were there. No problem. The judge threw it out because he could see I have never been in trouble.

If you really think that law enforcement in this area is going to ring me up for "firing a warning shot" you just don't know the area where I live. The cops want all the help they can get from law abiding types because this is also a very high crime rate area and they know it. They told me exactly that.

So once again, I'll take my chances with a jury and if it comes down to it I'll go to jail if I have to. I will protect my family the best way I can. And this is gun country. It ain't like some big city where they don't know what's good for them.

Cops can say a lot of things. Doesn't mean that's what's going to happen. Remember when the previous Vice President said you can just shoot a shotgun in the air to scare away criminals? This is coming from the 2nd in charge of the country. Have you read about the guy who did it and claimed it was ok because Biden said so? If not ....just for your info he got in trouble even tho the vice president said it was ok

Accidents happen and things fall out of cars. Understandable. However, blasting off 15 rounds and then another 10 is not an accident.

People still go to prison for gun crimes in gun country

So if you kill someone innocent with your mag dumps you're going to be ok with that? You cannot protect your family at the cost of innocent lives. And by acting recklessly you're putting others in jeopardy
