How many mags for an AR?

My stock S&W pmag didn't come with a cover. In fact the two others I bought didn't either.

So I should find covers to keep them loaded. And aluminum lips creep. How about stainless?

The dust cover on the Pmag actually compresses the rounds down into the mag just a tiny bit. Which does keep the top round from pressuring against the feed lips.

IMO, it makes perfect sense of it protecting the feed lips.

pmags haven't come with dust covers since gen 1. They reinforced the feed lips and say they are unnecessary. They will still accept dust covers, and you can supposedly buy them, but I've never seen them.

Actually you could buy them with or without the dust cover. Also, i believe most of the Gen3's now come with the dust cover.

I just got 15 from mag pul directly (Boulder Air lift - Google it). They all came with dust covers. I have 3 steel 40 rounders, 2 Colt 20 rounders that came with my AR.
