How many members have a C&R license?

How many guys have them and find them helpful? Or do folks find them not worth the effort and $30.00?

Examples would be helpful.

C&R

I have had a C&R for about 4 years. It is of no help here in NY when it comes to hand guns as all hand gun transfers must go through an FFL. It is great for older rifles and shotguns. I have found a number on line and in auctions that I have purchased . They can be shipped directly to me or at an auction or gun show no NICS or FFL needed.Initially I spent my money way too fast and now I am a bit more discerning.

I was planning on buying a CZ-82. I was not able to find one in stock at any the few guns shops i visit. The shops average charge for a FFL transfer was around $30.
I found out about the C and R license. I ended up getting my license and had the CZ-82 shipped directly to me.
So, with this one purchase, the cost of the C and R license has paid for itself. A side benefit to the license is that Brownell's and other retailers give discounts to C and R license holders.

I do. It can be a real help. On the other hand it can enable you to spend WAY more then you would otherwise. (trust me, I know)

I've had one since I gave up my regular FFL during the Clinton-era crack down. Since my tastes run to older classic firearms , it's well worth it. I've bought dozens of guns with it , including several S&W revolvers. Works at most auctions and at gunshows when PICS is down too.

BTW, PA State Police say that they do not recognize C&R handgun purchases as valid because there is no record in their illegal "record of sale database".

I've had one almost 8 years now. Just the discounts from Midway and Brownell's alone have saved me a small fortune in that time.
What with shipping, transfer fees and now sales tax, its no longer prudent for me to buy modern firearms off the internet anymore. So for the last few years I've been buying only C&Rs via internet. Which works out just fine because my main interests these days is with the older guns.

In the process of my second renewal (which may just be delayed that to the shutdown ). Thanks to the California laws I can't have a handgun shipped direct to me but I darn sure can buy all I want when out of state and bring them home myself. Of course, once home I fill out the state's form and give them $19 to record the gun. Best part, no shipping costs or worries of the gun disappearing in transit.

I have had one for several years and like the other posters say it's
great to be able to have older guns shipped right to your door. The
first few years I had my C&R I also found the urge to buy had a
tendency to override my judgement a few times and I ended up with
guns I regretted buying. All in all the C&R license is well worth having.
One irritation is that some net sellers because of ignorance or
resentment refuse to ship any guns to C&R holders period. But they
are just severely restricting the size of their buyer pool so that's
their loss.

I have a C&R. Since the LGS around here tend to charge $20 for transfers I figure the first two firearms paid for the C&R. Not every FFL accepts them though.

I'm on my 3rd renewal of my C&R. I figure it has saved me enough to have purchased another S&W. The biggest thing is the convenience factor. Going to a gun show and buying a gun and taking it home. Buying a gun on line and having it shipped right to your house. Some suppliers will give C&R holders a "dealers" discount, but it isn't a great savings, and Midway just discontinued it.

I am on my second renewal. I like the convenience of getting the guns I collect delivered to my door. With not paying a FFL dealer I have saved enough to buy a few guns.

I let mine expire. It was too convenient to have guns delivered to my door and now that I'm appreciating older hunting rifles, too tempting.

I had one that I used to buy a silencer and several WWII weapons. It expired when I was in Korea.

Had one for six years and dropped it. The problem was at gun shows you need to see a drivers license if you bought or sold one. Strangers didn't want to show someone they didn't know their address. Since I've cut back on the Internet buys, I'll pay the FFL to receive the guns. Larry

I have one. I don't mind paying an FFL - I have one that is close by and reasonable. Tipping point for me was the state revenue people went around to all of the FFL's and informed them that they needed to charge sales tax on the transfers based upon the value of the gun. The tax is 9.9%! I'm on my 2nd renewal.

I've had one for a few years now. I use it maybe six times per year. I like UPS bringing guns to my door!
