How many of you have 38 special revolvers

I have a literal pile of .38 Specials made by S&W, Colt, and Charter Arms. I enjoy the .38 Special as a plinking, target, and self-defense cartridge. It is a fantastic round and shooting it out the various wheel guns I own. Even shooting .38 Special through a N-Frame is just as fun as it is through a J-Frame.

Have 8 38 spl, most of them 38-44 / Outdoorsman, 1 J-frame, and no k-frame, will need to fix that btw

will rewrite this with my list

3 HD 38-44 all of them 4"
1 M60 2"
1 M686 yes, in 38 spl 7 shots TI cylinder 6"
1 pre M23 outdoorsman 6.5"
1 M23 outdoorsman 6.5"
1 M27 with a HD cylinder pinto 5"

.38 special is probably my all time favorite round. Versatile, powerful enough for self defense, cheap and light enough for target shooting, fun, easy to hand load.

And many beautiful looking revolvers are chambered in it :D

I think a better question is “How many 38 Special revolvers do you have?”
For me:
Model 10 4 inch heavy barrel x2
Model 10 4 inch standard barrel
Model 10 5 inch standard barrel
Model 10 6 inch standard barrel
Model 15-3 x2
Model 64 heavy barrel
Model 638
Model 438
Model 67

I have two. it is by far my favorite round. I have the S&W model 10 and Sam & Wesson M&P bodyguard. Both are dependable and accurate.

I have kept three S&W .38's, all which have a purpose.

My model 64-5 started as a re-imported 4" round butt heavy barrel gun which I had a 3" barrel installed and the finish bead blasted. This gun is my EDC in a IWB holster or a pancake holster.

My model 15-3 was made in my birthyear, 1973. The action is something else! Very smooth. I shot handloads at 15 yards, double action, and got cloverleaf groups.

I have a 4" heavy barrel, round butt model 10-8 at the gunsmith getting chopped and refinished. I'm hopeful it will be done soon.

All K frames. I got rid of my Charter Arms .38's and my J frames. K frames is my preferred platform.

If I think about it..............straight up .38 Specials.......

M64 customized 2"
M 10 2"
M 649

That's 3. Methinks the rest of my "38" revolvers are actually all .357s. I just shoot .38 Specials mostly in all of them so that makes a bunch more "38s". ;)

I jumped in with both feet. I have a pre model number s&w k38 14 masterpiece target 6” and a per model number 15 k38 combat masterpiece 4” both in blue in mint condition. Never was interested in k series till I got a k22 target masterpiece.

I call them my dirty 8’s,,,,,,one Adam 12,,,,,,,10-4

hard to beat a 38 special

I started out loading for 38 special, when I was 16 years old, and would be lost with out one.
Hard to go wrong with a 38 and a hand full of semi or full wad cutters.
The last hand gun I would ever give up, would be my Model 19-3, that my Dad helped me buy, before I could buy it on my own, or my 14-3, purchased a few years ago.
The 19 for sentimental reasons, or if I wanted a carry gun or home defense gun, due to the barrel length, of 4 inches. The 14 with an 8 3/8 inch barrel for shooting.
Long live the 38 special, and the K Frame revolver, a match truly made in heaven.

Love the .38 special and love the K frames. Here is my favorite .38 family; the Model 10. I have the Model 10 through the Model 10-10. 2, 4, 5 and 6" barrel. The only nickel I have is the Model 10-5 (also in blue). Great guns and lots of fun collecting them.

Nice collection of 10s. Very nice. An all around great revolver.

Brought this Model 10-14 home today to add to the .38spl collection.

I thought having a 38 Special was a condition for joining one of the revolver forums here. ;)

That said, I have 6 of 'em - 4 J frames and 2 K frames. (One J and one K are 357 Magnums, but I only shoot 38s through them - 357 ammo is for the lever action carbine only.)
