How many of you folks run your S&W Sport without an optic and just use iron sights? (Old school) ;) Show pics if ya got'em!

I'm just curious to see if anyone uses their rifle for close quarters HD protection. Of course if its a range gun you need optics to see the target for distance shooting, especially with older eyes.:D

I tried with my new build but she laid claim to it and the first thing was "well your gonna put a scope on it, right?" LOL

I shoot mine without optics. My range is only 100 yds. I'm 59, and with glasses have a hard time seeing the target circle. For now its fine, I've been thinking of putting on the Nikon P223 but also don't want to have to remove the MBUS. I've gone back and forth on this decision for over 4 months now.

BUIS will fit under an M223 as long as they fold and you use the Nikon mount made for the scope. For close work, the 1-4 X20 is great but the SPOT ON reticle is 3 MOA and limits accuracy in still, distance shots. Great for quick acquisition though.

Sport specific? Come on, let other M&Ps play too! :D

I run a non magnified red dot but find it in the off position most of the time. I like shooting with my irons (Matech rear, generic front for now). However, I'm getting better with my dot and would use it for fast target acquisition in a HD situation.

S&W M&P 15 ORC !!

Well almost the same rifle.
I got the ORC because I was going to put a scope and not use any iron sights!!!
But after I got it ..I figured I should at least try the fixed sights.so I picked up a set of MAGPUL flip up sights that fit under the scope.
My main reason for scope was these 70 year old eyes. But at 100 yards the target looks like a postage stamp. but when I walk up & look they are all on target...so maybe those old sights aren't all that bad.
Just my input...But I am thinking of the P-223 as well. Waiting for more funds and see what is said on here about scopes!!!

I have this NcSTAR I was going to try this week. A friend let me borrow it. Has quick release lever as well.

I run iron sights. I have it set up for a close quarters riflemen. Dead on at 100 yards.

The Magpul Scout Mount is covering up the standard A2 fixed front sight.

I put a 3-9 Bushnell Banner on my new build but I put it on a QD mount because I am going to shoot her with Iron Sights, plus I am going to put a flashlight on her so I can take her out to the poultry pens after dark to protect our birds..

Running the stock sights for now. As others have said, old eyes make it tough to sight with the iron sights. Looking to get a red dot in the future, after I acquire more ammo.
