Dale53, That is the way I plan to go. You can never be 100% independent, but you can get darn close. Mail order ammo maybe the next target of the of the control crowd. You are wise in your thinking. Best

that stack is sorta three deep.
i don't know. how many loose rds of .45auto will a 50 cal can hold?
most of it is .30-06. belted, linked, clipped and loose.
.45 auto, 3 cans
9mm
.38spl
7.62x39 and 54r
.223
.30 carbine
12ga buckshot
some .30-40 floating around as well as some .380auto.
and a few pounds of BP.
i don't keep many mags loaded just a few, for a few select guns.
i'd say i'm well under way to 10,000 total.
Right now I have about 800 rounds of .38 range loads of various types and 500 9mm ball, also range loads, plus many dribs and drabs of SD loads. I buy my range ammo in 1,000 round lots, so what I have on hand varies. All of it is in ammo cans, for quick evacuation or containment in a fire.

Boy, I thought I had a lot of ammo! My supply includes: 70 rounds of .357 Mag, 400 rounds of .38 spl, 400 rounds of .45ACP, 500 rounds of 9x19mm and 80 rounds of 7.62x39.

Considering the potential for gun & ammo control under a potential new Democrat presidential administration, I'd rather not disclose that information. Even though this board is somewhat annonymous, I'm sure the Feds could find out who the posters are. I may be a little paranoid, but I'd rather be paranoid and safe than not careful and regret it later.

I'd like to double my reserve stash, but when I think about our country experiencing really bad times where i might actually need my guns and not be able to go down to walmart and buy more.. I still can only imagine pouring through a couple hundred rounds before something gives...likely me dying in a gunfight or government regaining order.
I keep a couple hundred rds of 40
500rds of 45
500rds of .223
100rds of the small carry stuff..380 and 32.
100rds of 30/30
50rds of 12ga #1 and slugs.
that's my stash..if I'm going to the range, I'll buy fresh ammo and rotate so that I'm never dipping into the reserve.
my bugout bag has a smith 4006 and (6) 11rd mags preloaded and my .223 rifle is in a bag with the mag pouches on the side and there's 4 mags preloaded in there. I'm betting on a really bad day...that ammo is probably all I'll actually have with me.

Ammo is too heavy/bulky to be worth stealing (compared to something like a nice TV anyway) and the Men In Black have better things to do with their time. No one really cares how many guns a person has, how much ammo, etc. By posting here at all, if someone really wanted to track it, they already know that you have a gun and ammo. As far as any idiot coming to rob me, I fail to understand why they'd pick the guy who talks about his boatload of ammo and sleeping with his body armor for a pillow to rob. If they do, then Darwinism is proven again as a theory.
