Then you don't have any guns, just very heavy expensive paper weights.

There are ony two situations where you can have too much ammo -

when you're on fire

when you're drowning

....last time I counted....about 70,000 rds if you count everything...22s and reloads

How much ammo do I have on hand?

I don't know. I can't count that high. The numbers make my brain hurt.... Let's call it more than most but not as much as others.

i will call that bet an raise you on any caliber u got , you wont carry it in a 3/4 ton pickup , not includeing powder an prinners an ,molds an lead , an i havent fired a shot in years , to dam old now , someone is going to hit a gold mine when i die , lets just put this way i could make some po dunk country happy ,

I began a practice of keeping my main ammo stores to a limited cal.
Handgun: 45 acp and 38 spl +p got ammo and 3 guns for cal.
Long gun: 12 shot(buck) .223 and .22

But by some numbers, I am behind, for at 1,000 rounds I felt ok. 22 is common and easy to get in 500 round bulk.
I do feel the progressives(socialists) will do something to make it hard to get ammo asap.

I am one of those who do not like to advertise the amount of anything that I have on an open forum. Having said that, I am beginning to really ponder just how much ammo I need to keep on hand. I believe that once all the brass I have on hand right now is loaded, that I will just be stocking up on all the other components for a while.

Realistically speaking, I can only think of two reasons for storing a "lot" of ammo. I use a good amount in competition throughout the Spring, Summer, and Fall. During the winter, shooting slows down, and reloading takes on a whole new meaning!

I keep enough on hand to be able to shoot my competitions for two seasons just in case I am unable to get components, or for some other reason I am not able to reload throughout a winter. I learned this the hard way, when I was all out, and had to reload on Saturday for the Sunday matches for an entire year. That sucked!

The second reason for stockpiling ammo as I see it, is the rising coast of ammo and reloading components. I am at the point where I have plenty of ammo on hand, and will now just buy as many componenets as I can afford before Mr. Hope & Change and his administration make it very hard to obtain them through price (tax) hikes or outright banning.

The self defense/home defense stuff doesn't get used up, just replaced on an annual basis. I may buy extra premium ammo soon, just because the price will be out of reach before too long. I don't see myself buying massive amounts of it though.

Listing would take far too long, so I'll just say; More than that admitted to in all the preceding posts. I always bought when I saw a "Good Deal", thus I've accumulated just the right ammount of ammo: "One box short of 'Too Many' and one box short of 'Just Enough"

way more than i will use up in my life time ,,i quit counting 22 bricks pass 25,000 an the rest god only knows ! an buy powder by the 8 gal keg. cast my own bullets ,My clain to fame is i have only brought 2 boxs of factory ammo ,

I just found a box of pristine, old, .221 remington fireball, but I have never seen a firearm that shoots this round. I also have boxes of .303, .45-90, and .35 remington, and I have yet to see any guns that shoot these. I wonder if i should sell this stuff...

I definitely hear you. A reverse IP lookup will reveal who the IP address is registered to everytime.

Considering the potential for gun & ammo control under a potential new Democrat presidential administration, I'd rather not disclose that information. Even though this board is somewhat annonymous, I'm sure the Feds could find out who the posters are. I may be a little paranoid, but I'd rather be paranoid and safe than not careful and regret it later.
